P.S. I have a German mate of mine who got offended at me once for not looking her in the eye during a toast. It's the same thing but something I don't think we do much in Australia. Go figure.

You're right. In Europe it's mandatory to look someone in the eye when you clink glasses.

Yep, the punishment is seven years of bad sex (apparently)

It's funny, when you've been indoctrinated with this, it seems really strange when people don't do it.

It's also good when clinking with a wine glass to hold it from the stem. (otherwise the 'clink' is a 'clunk')

I can confirm this part is bullshit :p

Great call. I hope many read this post.

I have absolutely no respect for MM but as supporters and representatives of Collingwood we need to follow Buckleys example and show that we can rise above his childish, selfish behaviour.

If the Collingwood crowd boos MM we let down Eddie, Buckley and the whole club who have at all times tried to show respect.

If the Collingwood fans show dignity, it will just further magnify MM for what he is.

Cheering and banners of support for Buckley are a far better way to express feelings.

Rise above it Pies.

I have to disagree, Malthouse keeps saying that the rank and file Collingwood supporters have been supportive of him since he left.claiming that all he hears from Magpie fans is positive and he has had no negative feedback from his actions.Well starting with his appearance on the 2011 Footy show and all he has carried on with up until his discraceful performance at the Peter McCullum presser, its time to let this delusional man know what the vast majority of Collingwood supporters think of his antics.Boo him loud and long .Let Malthouse know that we wont put up with his pathetic efforts to destabilise our club.Lets
show him we are right behind our coach Nathan Buckley ,the board and administration.Remember it's
SIDE BY SIDE.

Hey Mick, how are your protoges Neeld and Watters going !!!!?
Yet the main man that Carried your team for 8 years gets no ringing endorsement from you Shithouse malthouse
You forgot McKenna....

Neeld , Mckenna and Watters are no threat to Micky Mouse, Buckley is and MM knows it, jealously is a curse.
Buckley is a far superior person than MM could ever dream of being. But then again MM is delusional!
F(CK YOU MM! SCUM!

I agree with so much of what you said. I must admit I regret giving him a standing ovation during his lap of honour but I also think to be dignified now would be the best way to really contrast him, and show him up for what he is.

SIDE BY SIDE for me is supporting Buckley and having faith through any difficult times we go through and giving him every chance to take us to the top.

I know we should put this whole Malty thing behind us but I have one last question.

Is some of the negative/angst/loathing towards Malty born out of posters who felt for a long time that bagging Outhouse was not a comfortable thing to do here? I wonder if some of those posters are more vitriolic just because it's great to get that pent up emotion out of your system?

I may not have explained this well.

This is my feeling too. If Bucks can be classy about it so should we.

No, I don't think so.

Malthouse signed a five year contract. Malthouse was very happy to sign it.

After two years he changed his mind. Yeah, I was annoyed at that - for two reasons.

(1) I thought the plan was a great one. And I loved Eddie for coming up with it (still do)

(2) I felt a bit like a six year old kid who'd been defending the existence of Father Christmas and just found out I was wrong.

But look, these these things sometimes happen. If Malthouse decided to ride off into the sunset with Nanette, I wouldn't have begrudged him of that (nor would anybody else)

If he had opened up and been honest that the reason he reneged on the deal is because he wants to remain a hands-on senior coach, then I would have been annoyed, but I would've gotten over it.

But to have bad blood towards Collingwood or anybody associated with Collingwood is a bridge too far. He's an ungrateful twat. But on a positive note, it does make me glad he's gone.

Did anyone else see the footage on Channel Seven last night? Malthouse was at a press conference and he was asked if he thought he was treated unfairly at Collingwood. He said something like "I'm pretty sure you all know the answer to that" and stood up and left the room. Struck me as very very bitter indeed.

He's right; I mean, we failed to pay him in unmarked, non-sequential bills, wrapped in brown paper and dropped in the rubbish bin on the corner of Spring and Collins Streets. No cops...

Character is destiny Mick. Remember that when you fail as the Blues coach and you forever walk in the shadow of Collingwood's affection...I guess you'll just have to learn the hard way!

I have to turn the volume down when MM comes on, HARD TO LOOK OR LISTEN TO A LIAR! (and traitor)
GO PIES!

That win must have felt good, Buckley and McGuire really are class acts. Eddie can be a bit annoying, but you know they are both upfront blokes without a lot of malice.
