Fletch is no racehorse.

I think Carrick has really improved his game in defence. He gets back and gets stuck in better than he ever has. Many a time he got a boot in the way of a pass or tackled a player as he was about to pull the trigger.

Think he had his best season for sometime and he is not my favourite United player thats for sure!

We'll have to agree to disagree.

For mine a fit Fletch is a better option for the deep lying defensive role and will always be a better option for this position that Carrick. I like Carrick but he aint suited to this position. For a guy of his size and talents he simply isn't imposing enough or quick enough or strong enough to properly fulfill the requirements of this position. He is basically a fat Frank minus the goal scoring threat.

Fletcher was the guy who allowed Carrick to get into space. He's not flashy but he's very effective.

Can we at least agree that neither are World Class and thats what we need!

No argument there really, but unfortunately I highly doubt that will be buying world class this season. Best case scenario would be in Martinez stays at Bilbao and we snap him up next year for around 25-30mil. Probably end up with a Strootman or Defour type though.

Would like an Iker Munian

Indeed. Or a Goetze. For some reason Fergie doesn't seem too keen to pick up young guys like this unless they can play out wide or show sustained world class attributes. Think Ozil. We looked at him for a few years but by the time we wanted him it was too late.

18mil on an Ashely Young could quite easily directed to a 19-21 year old attacking central mid with a heap of potential, but it just ins't Fergie's way. Now, for a winger....

My eyes are hurting from looking at avatars. They didn't scale them very well during the change.

I want to see what our away kit will look like. Might buy a Kagawa shirt in that design as I don't want to wear a tea towel kit.

Yeah that's exactly what I'm thinking. Apparently it's the same tea towel style except blue. I hope not. Shinji to wear 7?

This is what's been leaked. More often than not, these guys are right. If it's this, then I like it.

Away kit looks better in this pic:

Blue checkered doesn't look too bad, but considering the season that just past was blue and black, I'm thinking they'll go with a different colour scheme for next season.

It's all about selling shirts for the $$ so can't see them making a brand new away one look too much like the current. Probably be a 3rd kit or something. Just my guess.

Not trolling, just getting that out of the way. I also love Kagawa and think it's a good buy, particularly at 12m rising to 17m.

But I was reading a few articles online and since Berbatov joined Utd for 30.75 million in 2008. United's largest transfer fee has been 17.8 million for De Gea.

So in 4 years Fergie has failed to buy anyone for over 20 million. He has also wasted a little over 23 million on Diouf, Obertan, Bebe and Tosic. Pretty sure you moved Diouf on recently and Obertan is already gone, not sure if you broke even on those deals or made a profit.

But the real story here is the sudden spending power of Utd seeming to go up in smoke. SAF often says the money is available if he wants to spend but then says there is no value in the market or nobody he particualarly wants right now. Then brings Owen in for free and drags Scholes out of retirement.

Do you lot really have no money? Certainly seems that way.

Last transfer window we purchased: De Gea, Jones, Young so I think the money is there.

We did make an offer to Hazard just recently and other big names but the players have chosen the "better project" of City and Chelsea.

I think we can still match the transfer fees, but salary is another matter.

At the same time, we have won the league a few times and made the final of the Champions League. There hasn't been the need to buy superstars and with the spending power of City during the period, it did inflate the prices. So if there's no desperate need to buy in a bloated market, then the money won't be splashed.

This summer however is when we do need to start spending, so I guess we'll see what happens beyond the Kagawa signing.
