swans fan here ... very curious as to the progress of this bloke this season, and seeing as we've had little news on the freo club overall, just wondered if anyone can help me
i rate young drum very highly, been reading positive things about him for two years or so but he seems to have had injury problems
1) is he fit and healthy?
2) has he played preseason?
cheers

I am not quite sure where I would like to see him develop, but think that we are seeking an A-class full back, and are still looking for a third tall forward. I'm not saying that he will play either of those roles, but he may be able to contribute to someone else filling those roles. eg if he plays the role Mundy or MY has then they may move forward.

I was convinced that he had shown enough in the forward line to cement a spot there, he is creative, can be explosive and has a bit of flair. Having said that i liked his game against lynch in the derby and he is a pin-point pass, something we need in the back half. I think he just needs another 5-10 kgs of muscle to hold his ground. He's a bit scrawny atm for a key position backman.

Drummy has had some pretty big assignments so far this pre-season and he's done well considering. I'd like to see him take the weakest tall forward for a while and let him settle in - it's certainly not a role for the faint-hearted and the chemistry needs to work.

I'd love to see Matt Carr start the season in the WAFL, Dodd as our number one tagger and Drum down back taking the 3rd tall.

I recon he is a GUN. He'll be the next captain after Pav.

Hmmmz - you may be on to something there...
The lad is a gun. Our defence will only improve with the likes of him and perhaps Josh Head there to help add depth, especially [not wishing here] if injuries and suspensions start to bite during the season.

I too think Drum is class, but gun is a big call, considering he's essentially a fringe player going into his 3rd season. TBH he's probably been disappointing to this point in his career. But having said that, if they play him consistently we should see him at his best this year. Here's hoping

I know Dodd has tagged, but it feels to me like he has "grown" out of that role physically. He certainly has the mongrel, and he clearly hates being beaten.

I think Crowley's best role is as a tagger who can hurt going forward. He has not developed enough to justify his position purely on football getting ability and needs the added weapon of tagging for him to be a certain best 22 player for mine.

You have to remember that he played quite well in his 5 games in his first year then got injured. He was emergency for the Prelim Final in his first year too.

He didn't get much of an opportunity to show last year until well into the second half of the season. And then he went quite well also. So i think that he has actualy been fairly good in the games he has played.

You could say that he hasn't performed at WAFL level, but that is a completely different style of footy to AFL and even TAC cup (which he is used too).

Is he part of your best 22?
chook2734 is right, however his pre season form has been very good.
He may very well sneak into the starting line up.
In either case we are the winners as we have competition for spots in our defence.
However he has appeared to lift a level thus far through pre seaosn matches and shown a bit. I can't see a reason why he shouldn't be picked...
He can keep the spot warm for when the Brockinator arrives;):p
