Danny buckingham was another one.

could have played for australia if he cared enough.

That says more about Australian cricket at the time than it does about Buckingham...

but what a sight it must have been hey, A young Shaun Young, David Boon, Danny Buckingham and Richard Soule....... I reckon they could have cleaned up a brewery between them though.

Ansett (At the time) informs you that one of these players will not be allowed to trave for away matches due the planes weight bearing load. We will leave that decision up to team management, signed Ansett Safety team.

Yeah.. righto.

Always get good spreads at first grade games, we played a festival match against the MCC 29ers at the Albert Ground a few years ago and it was the best spread I have ever had.

i hear ya ben...
as warnie says, it's "cricket fit" - not triathlon fit that matters...
and i thought it was how well u were batting: if cossy being overweight meant he couldn't score 100s, then fair enuf, but harsh call i say
But he's not scoring hundreds, and his lazy attitude is preventing him doing this.

poor bastard wont be able to pig out at tea anymore

cucumber sandwiches on rye bread for our portly friend from now on

in all seriousness though, i hope he overcomes this and fulfills all his potential

Hope that he is taken away with us and actually decided to do something about it.

It would be sad to see his talent go to waste due to his eating habits.

brett Lee 4-29 that should keep him in the team for another 12 months despite his average of 40 in the ashes.

Good response today - made a ton for Northern Districts, Boof made 50

0/40-odd for Dizzy in the other game
117 - an odd number! Meant he had to run at least once.

Geez.... I wonder why this doesn't apply to Inzamam over in Pakistan ?

Boof is fat as well, yet the SACA let him play ?
Double standards in my book.

Boof actually proved himself but cosgrove hasnt, boof also passed fitness tests whereas cosgrove did not.

If brett lee got 4-29 what does that tell you lets see how well he goes in the REAL STUFF
yeah the brett lee fans reckon he is a superstar and their list of excuses for nearly 4 years of CRAP CRAP cricket is astounding.

love posting his series averages for the past 4 years, no one ever replies to that post lol.

head in sand stuff.

except for his first 18 months of cricket nearly 1/2 a decade ago, the past 4 years he has averaged about 40 with the ball.

a champion cricketer like Dizzy gets badly maligned by the lee fans who then extol the virtues of hackLee

It says that grade cricket is a good standard and that every player is given the same respect, regardless of whether they are a state or international player.

Cosgrove passes fitness tests

South Australian Mark Cosgrove has had his state playing contract reinstated after passing fitness and weight tests.

The 21-year-old batsman from Northern Districts underwent the tests on Tuesday morning at the South Australian Sports Institute, following a one-month suspension from his contract.

Cosgrove was set a number of fitness and weight targets to meet by October 31, after failing to present himself in an acceptable condition for first-class cricket.

Cosgrove will be available for selection, effectively immediately, and will train with the West End Redbacks on Tuesday.

After receiving the one-month ban, Cosgrove implemented some lifestyle changes and started training three times per day. He had spent the Australian winter playing league cricket in England.

The Bradman Young Cricketer of the Year is targeting next Friday's ING Cup clash against Queensland at Adelaide Oval for his return.

---

Him and Dizzy back for Friday and Harris should be available too after a good performance in the only grade game at the weekend, although I doubt he'll be picked

He's probably been training harder than anyone else in the squad for the last month

And so he should have been. But it was outside the team environment due to terrible discipline. If he is brought striaght back I think ti sends a bad message to those who have done the right things
