I know a few Melbourne people who are happy to see the back of him, so from my perspective would only hamper the development of Grundy / Witts becoming the new super power ruck combination of the universe.

No from me as well. I think if we get White then we have enough rucks on our list to hold up.

We have Grundy, Witts, Hudson, White and Lynch who could ruck and Keeffe who is the right size.

White and Lynch aren't really ruckmen, but aren't bad stop gaps. Doubt we'd lose all 3 of our genuine rucks.

I reckon we are still one ruckman short.

We had 4 ruckman in 2013 and we used all of them. We're now down to 3 and one of those is 34 / 35? :eek:

I think Keeffe will take over Maxy's rucking responsibilities - only break open in case of absolute emergency. I don't think Keeffe will ever be a serious ruckman (I don't think Keeffe will ever be a serious key forward either)

If we rookie the best ~24 year old ruckman in the VFL (ie: not Jamar) then perhaps he can take over from Huddo in 2015 as insurance?
 
Regarding Keeffe, who knows. He's already established himself as a decent KPD, not great but established, and it's good to get him working on other areas of the field. Who knows, he might fine another niche in one of them.

I'm with you, I can't see how dropping a ruckman (Jolly) off the list and pinning the hopes on a youngster in Grundy who is already having back related issues is going to help us in the future. Whilst I hope we aren't even remotely interested in Jamar I'd like to think we would consider Longer or even Trent West to relieve Grundy as we surely can't expect him to hold us up all season.

Witts is still a work in progress but whose to say he mighten turn it up a notch this season in terms of conditioning and really come to the fore that would be ideal.

Hudson surely can't be considered as a suitable back up (Over a full season) and relying on lads like Keefe, Lynch, White as relief ruckman will effect their footy and increase the likelihood of injuries.

But we will wait and see.
