Naitanui's happened too quick, with Walker it felt he was up there forever in slowmotion -my votes goto Walker.

Mark my words Naitanui will take one even bigger and better soon.
.

Of course he will, he attempts 4 or 5 every week, so he's bound to pull one off sooner or later.

Honestly yes it is a good mark but definately not mark of the century.

He got on his shoulders and pushed himself upright for extra height which is impressive. But for everyone saying the 180 deg turn was awesome, it was totally not needed for the mark cos he already had the ball under control.

Bit biased I know but if he beats Nic Nat ill be happy

Every single fan there last night was witness to MOTY and the smiles around the ground from fans of both sides told the story. Everyone enjoyed it.
The reaction to Natanui's mark was funny (and similar to an extent) because there were mainly Carlton fans bemoaning the umpires/Warnock/Ratten at that stage. The crowd went quiet straight after the mark and then chuckles of glee spread through the crowd as the Carlton fans forgot the scoreboard and appreciated what they got to see. Making 40K Carlton supporters smile at the same time as they are realising their team is not as good as they think they are is probably more meritorious then giving 20K Essendon supporters, looking for anything to cheer for, something to cheer for.

As mentioned by a few others, Natanui's or Walker's is a toss of a coin. I thought Petterd's had eclipsed Krakouer's at the time so will put Krak's as the unlucky fourth mark so far. Still time for others to make a mockery of these definite MOTY claims from Carlton supporters.

Mark my words, so will Walker.
Had have Walker held onto an attempt earlier this year, this thread wouldn't even exist.

Whichever way, It's just great that we've largely pulled back from that dour style that may have killed of this highlight of our game.
Power to the mark. :thumbsu:

A pretty decent chest mark this one...

It's already been said but as good as it was on TV, seeing it at the ground was something special. I was on the ground level, not too far away from where he took it. As crap as a night as it turned into after halftime, am so glad to have seen that mark.

All this talk about which is better - Walker, NicNat, Krakouer, Pettard - is purely subjective but seeing that leap right in front of me, I've gotta go with Walker. Good luck to whoever has to make the decision though.

Yes it was certainly a unifying football moment. Bombers and Blues supporters were generally wrapped to have seen such a monstrous leap and grab. For a second, team colours were forgotten. But just for a second.:thumbsu:

Great mark but I prefer Natanui - perfectly judged from a long kick, took it cleanly overhead at the peak height of his jump and got some hang time on the way down.

How can people dislike carlton that much to prefer natanui's mark. Nicks mark was very good but Walker's mark was something special.

Not very often do you see the opposition supporters rise off their seats and go nuts.

I remember shaun smiths, at the time he seemed to be standing on the shoulders of a man who was leaping in the air. He just seemed to go up and up and up and up.

edit: actually watching it again it seems he's taking it at a height above the padding on the goal posts. That is some serious height he got there.

To be fair, us Carlton fans were off our seats after NicNat's mark as well. It was a special moment I'll never forget.

The talk of camera angles making last night's mark seem better than it was is absolute nonsense though!

Shame Podsiadly didn't hold his attempt, it would have been right up there. I think he was expecting a ride so he could hang there and pluck the mark but he jumped so high he cleared the pack.

That wasnt you in the Essendon jumper in the background rising up with him was it?

Just Youtubed mark compilations.

I recall the mid to late 90's was riddled with spectacular grabs. Was a golden age that's for sure. Perhaps the softer, no hands/contact rule has ruined it. Surprised that the umps didn't ping him for the ear tickle, such is their perogative these days.

Awesome mark but.

Fixed that for you.
Let me guess... You've never been anywhere... Never got out of the city.... Right?

98% of INDIGENOUS Australians refer to themselves as "blackfellas" so you can stick your politically-correct, ignorant, smarty-pants bullshit where the sun don't shine.

Go out and live. See Australia for yourself. Spend a bit of time with the INDIGENOUS blackfellas. Then come back here and "fix" my posts.

Lighten up it was a beauty, still reckon Farmer's was better in 1998 against Richmond and I always liked Tarrants in 2001 that clearly should have been MOTY much better than Moorcroft's
You've obviously played the game and can appreciate that the level of difficulty associated with a pack mark is significantly greater than a one on one.

I'd rate the Riewoldt and Brown style marks as the best I've ever seen. The only one on one that I'd rate near these two are Ablett Sr v. Pies for the one handed element. Given it was paid a mark makes it legitimate.

The pack marks of Krakouer, Sean Smith, etc. rate somewhere in between.

This may be true (98% ... did they do a survey?) and I don't really wish to buy into the merit of political correctness, but don't a large percentage of African Americans refer to themselves and other African Americans as the 'n' word? Don't a decent amount of gay people refer to each other as the 'f' word or something similar?

It's almost as though they are being ironic when they say it, but if someone who does not identify with their particular minority uses it to describe them, they generally are not happy about it, as they feel the perspective or the intention is not the same. Most people do not mean to use it in a racist way, but the idea seems to be that if they take it in a racist way and are offended by it, then it is easier for us not to use it, than them to ignore it.
