i personally dont think we need seaby, i think pattison is fast becoming a very good ruckman, he has a huge motor, good skills, and he is ticker .. seaby not so sure about .. obviously has no ticker if he's willing to leave the egirls

Here here. You cant be serious on getting Seaby! You'd only have him for 2 years max. We can't keep topping our team up with rejects from other clubs who are passed it, ala Kent Kingsley.

Not sure that you'd say that Pattison has good skills though, but has a big heart.

This is what happens when you neglect ruckmen in list management. Forced to pay over the odds for ordinary players. If we give up our second rounder for him it would be very disappointing.

Another year of trading picks for players and not the other way around it looks like. We will never learn.

He's only 24 years old.

WC can ask for the world but personally I think a third round pick + JON is a pretty good deal for them. He was a second round pick in 2001, and hasn't really shown he's worth any more than that now.

Reported in the Australian that WC wont more than our second pick.
WHAT A JOKE!!!!!!!

The can go and get ****ed. I cant believe we even entertained offering pick 26 for that tub of lard.

Havent been this angry for a very long time. This would be almost as bad a recruiting decision as Trent Knobel, Ben Marsh etc...

How about we forget quick ****ing fixes for once and back our youth, or at least chase Warnock. ****ing Craig Cameron.

Seaby's getting a really bad wrap because he had a bad year this season but you could just tell he'd had enough of being behind Dean Cox all the time and when we stopped resting ruckman forward he really had no role with us.

He's a lot better a player than he's given credit for on BF, IMO. I'd expect that in the AFL world he's rated a lot higher than he is amongst the supporters.

You could expect him to hold his own against most rucks in the AFL and get you 10-15 touches, probably closer to 15 if he's leading the ruck. When he plays up forward he can take a killer pack mark and he's an accurate kick. You're not getting a spud with this guy, no matter what people say.

I agree. People have short memories. Admittedly he had a poor year this year due to the Eagles playing one ruckmen mostly, but when Cox was out injured, have people forgotten how good he played at such a young age for a ruckmen? He's entering his peak now and will be an asset long-term. People calling him a spud have no idea. He's better than Warnock, who most of you were drooling over  However I dont think we should give up a second rounder, and I dont think Cameron will. He knows as much as any of us the first 2 picks are vital. I hope we get him :thumbsu:

Lets compare Warnock to Seaby:
Seaby - 24 years old, 200cm 99kg 97 games to his name in 5 seasons. Averaging 10 disposals and 12 hitouts per game for his career despite limited game time.

Warnock - 21 years old, 206cm 94kg, 21 games to his name in 2 seasons at AFL level. Averaging 10 disposals 9 hitouts per game for his career in similar game time to Seaby.

I would much rather go with Seaby at this point in time as he looks to be a ruckman who can come in from round 1 and play a leading role. Warnock is a similar age to Graham, Cartledge & Putt is still learning the craft and I doubt if he would be able to take over as number 1 ruckman if Simmonds went down.

Dont rate him.
I would prefer to keep pick 26. Pick up Jordan Roughead?
Or Go after Charman he is an agressive ruck.
Our ignorance in not picking Key Position players in previous drafts has forced us in making Simmons into a forward has come back to bite us in more ways than we ever thought.
So Simmons now goes forward and which makes us desperate for a ruck and means we need to give up more than we should.

Here are Seaby's games over the last 3 years when Cox isn't playing.

R7, 2007: 17 disposals, 16 hit outs, 7 marks, 0.0.
R2, 2007: 13 disposals, 24 hit outs, 4 marks, 0.0.
R1, 2007: 13 disposals, 23 hit outs, 4 marks, 2.0.
R18, 2006: 17 disposals, 16 hit outs, 5 marks, 0.1.
R17, 2006: 9 disposals, 25 hit outs, 2 marks, 0.1.
R16, 2006: 15 disposals, 24 hit outs, 3 marks, 3.0.
R15, 2006: 11 disposals, 32 hit outs, 2 marks, 0.0.
R14, 2006: 8 disposals, 15 hit outs, 2 marks, 1.1.

That averages out to 12.9 disposals, 21.9 hit outs, 3.6 marks and 0.75 goals per game, as leading ruck, without Cox.
