Picked up Australian Rules Football skills very quickly, and from all accounts he has shown he has amazing foot skills and pace out on the training track. Guy McKenna labelled him "The Irish Nathan Buckley", so he has big wraps on him, I guess you could call it premature considering he hasn't played a senior game as yet.

Just heard that Bracksy is enlisting him to help contain bushfires, also could be a possible inclusion in Boxing Day test, depending if Eddie & Carla's adoption request gets approved before Xmas. Will also ride Miss Finland in replay of Cox Plate......

Although not yet on the senior list, he has still been installed as second favourite for the Brownlow.

The favorite for the Brownlow at the moment is the option of "Anyone else other than M.Clarke" and the odds are close.

Brownlow Medal Better

$2.50 - Anyone not Martin Clarke
$3.00 - Martin Clarke.

So every other player in the league is considered a better chance then him?
Hmmm

Still second favourite.

In all seriousness though, I believe he is currently seeded no.4 for the Australian Open next month, and has already beat Federer in 3 sets in a practice match. All done whilst lecturing Nathan Buckley how to kick a goal over his left shoulder on the boundary line from 55m out.

I don't think he'll struggle for all that long. As long as he can do the basics, which is get hands on ball, pass to teammate's advantage, he'll have an impact. Learning the game so that he doesn't get exploited too badly by his opponent will be the key.

Excellent point. I recall Burns on O'Hailpin this year. It was laughable seeing this 7 foot superman who runs like the wind and can jump packs with ease being stitched up by a stocky little grafter who was definitely not 100% fit. Burns basically beat him for brains and it was embarrasing to watch.

It takes years to learn the ins and outs of footy. Hopefully the boy learns quickly enoygh and we get to see his talent unobscured by ignorance.

Fortunately Cyclops, we drafted a proven footballer, and not a hurling convert.

Clarke's ability in traffic with a football in his hands will be light years ahead of Sultana's. That and he was the designated kicker for his team at age 18.
