It's pretty clear Buckley has placed a premium on foot skills. Maybe that is why Toovey might struggle to hold his place.

Welcome back to Marty and I really like the look of Elliot in that vid.

Just remember Marty was the Geelong specialist when he was with us, so he is a handy inclusion. I am really looking forward to see how he copes with the increased pace of footy these days.

here is what Wall-e had to say about him last year. I ripped it from a thread last year.

His height and weight belies his courage, almost to the stupid point where he’s putting his head where it has no business.

A very quick and agile small forward with very good goal sense and deadly accurate with the footy. Jamie won’t have too much problems adjusting to being a full time small forward, he isn’t your typical TAC midfielder who can’t play mid. He played some footy for the Pies VFL side so he knows about a little higher level and he tore the second half of the Young Guns VFL game apart.

The question marks over Jamie are very physical related. It’s his height and weight. He’s a slight kid, with a body shape that looks like it won’t stack on a ton of weight. Sort of that Rioli type but shorter as far as appearance goes. Fortunately I don’t see this as a massive problem as his aggression, tackling (though to make tackles stick on AFL bodies, he’ll have to work) and courage make up for this.

If he finds a way to get the body right to be able to cope with AFL footy, he’ll settle nicely as a modern small forward.

Welcome back. Great depth player to add to our list. So we add Marty & Nat Brown to our (already strong) defence stocks for 2012. Although we require depth with our forward marking talls. If Cloke & or Dawes go down next year, we will struggle up front, we require another tall forward option (unless Keeffe can improve to fill that role or Brown or Reid go forward).

last photo I saw of Marty it looked as though he bulked up a bit.

I wonder what Hine is thinking with Elliott. That Kyhal Horsey guy looked pretty solid. It just seems that Elliott is another Blair, Rounds, type player.

Elliot - "specialist at creating goals from forward 50 pressure"

... desperatly need this. Maybe krak gets more midfield time and this bloke can finally return our forward 50 pressure to premium 2010 levels. Imagine him fasolo and macaffer chasing down there... all can mark above their height, have a great goal sense... two seem very very exciting... mmmmmm mmhmhmmm WHEN DOES NEXT SEASON START

KPF = Witts

If this Elliott kid is half as good as he thinks he is then you'd be guessing a brownlow in about 2014. lol. I do like someone who can talk themselves up but he'd better know how do back it up on the field.

As much I trust in Hine and would love Marty back at the club. Pick 25 seems a bit steep for someone who hasnt played afl for 2/3 years. We should only trade these sort of picks if it is for someone who will definitely break into our best 22 (like krakouer last year). You have to remember Marty has missed the most important period in our playing list's development (3 gfs, 3 prelims) how do we know he can deliver on the big stage under pressure? I can only assume Hine really rates this kid elliot and thinks he is a top 20 pick in this draft. We will see...
