Doubt Elliot will play in 2012. Like this year, we hardly bloody first year players apart from Fasolo, and I see us doing the same with only Marty.
We still have a LOT of youngsters to get games into from other drafts with kids like Seedsman, Thomas, Ugle and Sinclair and Rounds etc.

When it's done I'm guessing. They've probably agreed to it in principle but I imagine it still has to be signed off during trade week. You never know what else might pop up.
Carlton making a play for him?
(Sorry if this was already linked, and I missed it.)
Just quietly, DO NOT WANT (Marty to go to Carlton, that is).
According to the article in The Age, Marty knocked back Carlton and wants to go to the Pies.
Also whoever said he couldn't tackle isn't right. He played as a tagger and a defender. If he couldn't tackle he wouldn't have played those roles. He was averaging close to 3 tackles a game when he got going. Not huge but certainly inline with a lot of established players.

"The Australian writes that Carlton could trump the Pies because they have a higher draft pick to offer the Giants and that midfielder Brock McLean, whose two years with the Blues since crossing from Melbourne have been a disappointment, could also be thrown in to sweeten the deal."
... I dont reckon this deal is over and done with, could turn into a bidding war.
What Happens if Marty does not want to go to Carlton then?
Well if Clarke goes the Blues then I guess we would just do the Elliot + Pick 60 for our 2nd Rounder to GWS?
If marty accepts being listed by GWS.. they chose to trade him to the highest bidder. Pick 60 is basically worthless for us we're likely to be using those picks on witts n stuff so it comes down to is elliot worth pick 25? i'd assume his worth a fair bit less than that (40-50?)
No we don't blood first year players because we don't need to. There is some correlation between how bad your team is and how many young players you blood/play in a year.We hardly blood first year players because lately our draftees havn't been very good with the exception of Fasolo. Horses for courses, if elliot/witts deserve a game they'll get one
I am so over the Marty Clark trade talk. We put our time and effort into developing the kid under special circumstances being an international recruit etc.
He walks out on us. OK...rattle off your myriad of reasons why this happened.
Now two years later we have to give up players/picks blah blah blah or may not get him because of Carlscum outbidding us with the GWS AFL marketing exercise.
So he comes back stronger and a better player for another club after all the effort we put in.
This deal better go down the way we want it too or there will be one Irish kid on my sheeet list!
