Out of the sets of managed players the other can get managed on the trip to Gold Coast.

We will struggle to score if we leave out Membrey and Mihocek. McCeery and Schultz will still be missing and possibly Hill. That's basically our entire forward line out! Add Pendles and Sidey and I'd be looking at an upset. If tonight didn't remind you, this is a very tough competition and every week there are upsets if teams are not switched on and up for the fight. The signal sent to the team if we 'manage" four of our best players would be a terrible one.

Carlton will be as pumped up as is possible after their recent displays and the criticism heaped on them in the media and from their supporter base. I'd suggest with all of the players you want to manage out there playing next week, it will still be a slog for large portions of the match. Hopefully, we will break them down and get the four points, but I have no thoughts of a percentage booster at all. Get over the line and move on. Historically our games with them have always been a dour arm wrestle with the occasional exception.

Carlton will no doubt put in one of their best efforts for the year so we need to bring in someone to help with clearances

I’ll never be able to work out what’s going on with Dean. Was hailed as the best defender in the VFL when we picked him up. He’s finally had a clean run with injury. You’d think with his limited opportunities he’d be grabbing them with both hands.

I guess maybe he’s just not ever going to be AFL standard?

I’d rather give Smit a go before Gold Coast to see what he can do

I thought Sullivan played well as a defensive forward. Kicked a good goal, had a hand in a couple others, held structure. And with no relief from Shooter or Hill.
He did at least as much as Elliott.
I agree we didn’t work out how to play 4 talks up forward.
West is the player who gets omitted.

I hoped for more.

Carlton will come out firing, fueled by media and a coach who is fighting for his job. Players will be either playing for their list position or to improve their exit plans.
Think of Buckleys last game coaching against Melbourne.
No flirting with form or taking the enemy for granted this week.

I want to flog Voss all the way to Centrelink.

Would almost consider swapping out Dean for Cochran. Cochran’s running game is far more suited to AFL l feel but is more of a tall defensive flanker than a a true key position defender at this stage

Losing to Carlton is never an option, the only upside would be they might just sign Voss up for life.

My view is we throw the kitchen sink at them, if we end Voss so be it.

West did nothing wrong. But no room for him if MMM. Our structure was off yesterday with 4 talls. Even three I find we’re a bit crowded in the forward line.

He’s had his taste now. Rewarded for his efforts in the VFL. He’s got a bright future.

Bobby is hopefully ok.

Maynard surely ready now.

I’d like to see Mitchell back in the seniors. Might have to wait until McCreery or Schultz are back so Sullivan isn’t needed.

Ed Allan is doing alright to continue getting a go. I love that he’s getting a decent block of games now. He’s building nicely. Still see him as a possible defender. Would love to see him developed there as this is a weak spot in our list.

West was on a hiding to nothing with the clubs selection yesterday. Perhaps if Membrey was sub and the forward line more balanced we could have had a better look but his cameo was a pass for me.

Hard to make a call on selection without knowing who is returning but I’d retain Dean and let him build confidence. Partly because we have no other choice and need him.

I’d also prefer Sullivan over Mitchell because they are playing different roles.

You are very wrong. Sully had a very good game. Probably misfired one or two few kicks, but was involved in a lot of goal assists and defensive work in the forward line, effectively playing the McCreery role.

These weeks before playing Carlton are always full of dread and anxiety, regardless of ladder positions. We know the unthinkable can happen, and no doubt Vossy will be glued to the replay of last night’s game, to see how the worst team in the league took it up to the best.

But to let reason prevail - we’ll win again and it would be nice to see a smashing, to add to their misery and further expose their pitiful year.
