Franklin?
Roughead?
Boyle?
Most overated forward line in the game but on its day, eg last friday night vs carlton, it can be one of the very most potent and that was without franklin. Pies undermanned obviously. Who will go where?

Franklin goldsack-Cox
Roughead-Wakelin
Boyle-Stanley
Maxwell loose.

i can see that working well, i dont really think Franklin is going to find having a player of similar attributes on him alot of fun, so i reckon back the sack. I expect the other players to win convicinly

Goldsack on Franklin if anyone, just not Cox. Maxwell could help double team in, the rest up there I agree with.

Not a fan of Cox, i thought his speed would be suited but fair enough

what a waste of heath shaw. best loose man in defense in the game. Maxwell would have to play on a lesser player and come over the top for the others although franklin kicks more goals from crumbs than from big grabs in the air and that is when we will need to apply the pressure and i dont think buddy will be able to handle that tight hard fought game....i hope

Shaw also happens to be the best one on one small defender in the game.

I have to say I think your way off the mark with your assesment of the hawks forward line. A little inconsistant maybe but overated-no way.

Franklin is a freak and has kick about 35 goals. Would be one of the hardest blokes to match up on in the comp. Boyle would be one of the 3 or 4 most improved players in the comp. Can play deep in the forward line as he proved against carlton or can play the roaming forward tarrant type as he is quite quick and athletic. Roughead has talent but is very inconsistent. Now that hodge plays in there a bit it makes it more dangerous.

As far as match ups go I think it will be a harder task than sydney.

Your dreaming overated forwardline,i think malthouse would love to have buddy in the number 23 to replace the ageing rocca. In fact probably at least 15 hawks players would get a game if they were on the magpie list..!Bring your tissue boxes on sunday pies and watch as the birds of prey eat cold pies..!! GO THOSE MIGHTY HAWKERS!!:)

Yeah we would take Buddy, who wouldnt, we would take Hodge and Mitchell - who are the other 12 who would get a game for the Pies? Dont make a studpid statement like that if you are not willing to name them and who they would replace!

Franklin, Crawford, Sewell, Mitchell, Hodge, Croad and Brown would probably get into our 22. With 4 of them on the Pine of course. :thumbsu:

Well at least u acknowledge half of them ha ha.The others dare i say it,williams, lewis, campbell, mcglynn, boyle, thorp, roughead and kennett..:thumbsu:

i think the hawks should think about how to match up on us, how will they quell the run of heath, swan, maxy, wakelin and to a lesser extent goldy and clarke. They are all great rebounding defensive players!

Maybe, yes, yes, no, no, eventually but no, eventually but no and no.

Boyle is a big danger and should probably get Cox rather than Stanley. Goldsack to Franklin, Wakes or Maxwell to Roughead if he plays forward.

Lol. Licuria is like a black belt in karate right? Couldn't he just take one for the team and knock Hodge out in the first minute or so.
Seriously though, maybe they could get Goldsack to run with...Toovey would have been a chance if he was playing. Licuria sucked against Goods last week, will suck similarly against Hodge. Give a younger guy a shot.

If we win this one that will be a totally monumental win considering the injury list. To be honest even if we get within 4 goals it will be a very good sign.
Let's face it Hawthorn are a very good team thanks to many high picks over recent years plus very smart recruiting. An essendon player referred to Hawthorn recently as like playing against the harlem globetrotters. Having just read this aritlce:

, I'm not so sure this is an ideal game for beanpole Reid to debut. No doubt they'll be targetting him, will be a tremendous test for the young fellow and best of luck! Also very important for Didak to rise to the occasion, play a blinder plus take on a leadership role and give Reid a lot of support and stick it up the gossippers and the inevitable crowd hostility after this week's events (well about 1/4 of the crowd anyway!)
