Carr retires from AFL
19th May 2008, 13:00 WST
Fremantle star Matthew Carr has retired from AFL football.
Carr will announce his retirement and the decision behind it this afternoon at a press conference.
The experienced utility player has battled a serious ankle injury and believes it's time for him to walk away from the elite level after 162 games, 134 of them being for the Dockers.
Carr believes it’s time for Fremantle to continue blooding youth with the club almost certain to miss the finals.

Good move Matt - you have put the club before yourself and for that you deserve mountains of respect.
And congratulations on a fine career - best of luck in your coaching endeavours from here on.
