Rumours on the Essendon board suggest he might request a trade back to WA. Don't think he's worth more than a pick swap (say, 45 for 60) or a similar fringe player from either side. If Blakely were on the move I'd be happy to do a swap, maybe with steak knives either way

He can win the footy but once he’s got it he turns it over by foot or handballs it sideways/backwards to a teammate under pressure. He’s also well back in the pecking order for inside mid spots. He can only play one position.

We’d be better off if his list spot became available and free up a bit of cash to re-sign our younger mids like Cerra and Brayshaw.

Put it this way my mates and I call him boomerang..... he kicks it forwards and its turned around and comes sailing back over his head.

In an era where precision football is vital, Blakey is a turnover merchant.
Making matters worse he gets the ball a lot and thats why you notice his turnovers.

If a team built his game around strictly winning the hard ball, which he will, and hand passing to a distributor or kicking long forward then he could be a very useful player.

Getting involved in precision ball movement isn't going to feature in highlights.

Injured up to the end of last year but could not crack it this year.

Doubt and hope we aren't interested. JL has twice now in the media said he wants to hit the draft and Guelfi isn't good enough to walk into the side so can't see any interest.

Suspect he doesn't get near the Eagles team at full strength either.

I'd suggest the Eagles may be interested as a depth small forward. I'm sure Glassy will pick up the phone and arrange to have a couple of long chats to Whoosa about him and any other players that may suit the Eagles needs.

The Eagles are lacking depth in small forwards and the next tier of mids, 23 years is also a gap in our profile.

So Guelfi is one of the few EFC players regularly getting games uncontracted for 2022. As per the AFL (article below) we're leaving signing him until the end of the year.

If he did leave, what value would he have? Although nobody thinks he's a superstar, there is quite a split by EFC fans on exactly where he sits. Some say he's purely depth, some say he would sit within many team's best 22 (albeit, near the back of those best 22s).
