7 goals first up from a bad wrist injury is a great effort.

Deserves a run in the seniors. You've just got to start rewarding good form rather than picking guys on potential.

Out - Lonners
In - McCarthy

In place of who, Phat?

Lonergan/Gardiner.

Lonners deserves another go, but you cannot ignore McCarthy's form.

As for Gardiner, despite being a different type, he doesn't deserve to be retained. Must be made to go back and earn a game the hard way, rather than being gifted them.

I'm seeing some good signs in Tom. He's still very raw and needs to learn a hell of a lot about the game, but he's a natural forward and once he works to his strengths, he'll be a good player. His kicking is excellent.

We know what we're going to get with McCarthy, don't we?

Pretty much, but you've got to reward good VFL form especially when the speciality of the player in question is a major weakness.

Matty can take a contested pack mark, that alone should be enough to at least get him consideration.

I don't have a problem at all with Tom. He's doing well and deserves more chances (deserved more chances than Charlie on Friday night), but you cannot ignore a forward kicking 7 goals first up.

No doubt at all.

What about Haynes? If Henry's in doubt, his hard running to present across half-forward would come in handy. We missed that on Friday as Charlie refused to do it.

As you know mate, i'm a big fan of Dessy. I love the way he presents, even with his brainfades he's more value than Charlie.

Isn't he still injured though?

Would like to see how Bomber can fit him into the side.

By my reckoning we should have 3 ommisions from the side that played on Friday night: Johnson, Gardiner, and Tenace.

I'd be hardpressed to squeeze Matt ahead of Henry, Callan, Egan, and even Corey should he make his return.

Maybe it is time for a re-shuffle. This year, Henry has grown so much and i think that he gives u a great optionat CHF and is a great player but he does sumtimes lead to far up the ground....

Therefore if Playfair is right to play next week i say Playfair and MaCarthey in, with Gardiner and lonergon out. Id like to see Haynes in there to but at this point in time i cant see a way in for him.

Haynes made it into the best players in the VFL, so he's obviously recovered.

Bring him in for Charlie.

That is the role he is instructed to play.

We need a target up the ground, he attempts to run his opponent into the ground and above all else, it gives Ottens and Kingsley some room to work in.

Nothing more frustrating than seeing someone clutter up space in front of Ottens, or someone getting in Chappy's way.

H is smart, and plays his role to perfection.

No goals though.

Thurley and Haynes were probably in the centre square

Haynes has to play up the ground in the VFL.

We're so top heavy, and he's the most versatile of all the bigger guys therefore needs to be used as an extra midfielder at times.

Do we?

The one thing that was stopping him from getting a regular senior gig was poor kicking. He's now kicked a couple of bags in the twos and seems to have improved his strike rate. Suggests he may have learnt to kick. If so, he should be in the ones.

He wont get an idiot like Walker playing on him in the AFL though, you should probably wait another week and see if he can do it again, half his goals were from free kicks in the goal square because Walker is a ****************

Played alright though, but his goal tally was inflated by stupidity and half the goals were kicked in about the first 10mins of the 3rd qtr

He kicked 6 goals in the first game of the year, so he's done quite well on either side of the injury.

7.1 I believe.... the 1 was vintage McCarthy :)

I thought that both Big H & McCarthy have always kicked rather accurately in the VFL, but seem to kick helicopters on the big stage.
Haven't seen many VFL games to really back this up, but have spoken to other Cats supporters at the footy who thought this.
I think if Big H doesn't come up this week, McCarthy should get a crack at CHF instead of Lonergan, as McCarthy is a good pack breaker...I love hearing Rexy call "The GREAT McCARTHY!!!",
Also if Matty leads well, he should hopefully be a good replacement for H. (But get Big H back ASAP :))
I like Lonergan's kicking style, but not too much else at the moment. He looks lost.

seeing as though gardiner has done bugger all for nearly 6 weeks, he should be dropped for McCarthy. Though he's now kicked a bags of six and seven, I'm still sceptical as whether McCarthy as what it takes. That said good form should be rewarded and tokeep Gardiner in the team at this point would be a slap in the face of those in the VFL busting a gut to break into the seniors

Was a big fan of McCarthy when he was in the seniors, the only letdown was his kicking, but with that curbed I always thought he could make it. Hope he's an inclusion this week, Bomber needs to give him an opportunity to prove himself like he has the other kids. Not a fan of Gardiner so hopefully: Gardiner OUT, McCarthy IN.
