He cost the gold coast the game with some average umpiring. Simple as that .

The Griffin error was there, no doubt, but jeebus cripes almighty... he fricken owes us one for all the times he has completely shafted us, and completely ****ed us over in the past 5 years. Whenever I see that bald-headed arsewipe walking out to one of our games, I feel my hackles rising, and I know we're in for a long and painful few hours of serious bias and complete incompetence. How he gets games is beyond me... Just thinking about him and what he does to us infuriates me!

There was no Griffin error.

I've already posted the relevant laws of the game and the cries of 'automatic free kick' made by the commentator just show they have no idea.

If you take the ball from a throw in or a bounce and you are tackled, you must 'dispose of it correctly, immediately'. Griffin disposed of the ball immediately. Whether it was correct disposal or not I can't tell from the camera angle and neither can the commentators. Neither can the half wits that insist it should have been a free kick.

If the umpire cannot determine that the ball was 'not correctly disposed' by Griffin, he CANNOT call a free kick. That decision was actually correct, which considering it was Nicholls is a miracle.

Edit: I agree with everything you said about that idiot!!!

Defends the worst umpiring decision of 2012.

Insults the intelligence of others.

The ball dribbles out and bounces off Griffin's knee. How often have you seen a player handball into their own knee? It seems like the trajectory a ball would take when it's dropped, don't you think? Watch the tackler (Mackenzie) appeal for the HTB even as the play continues on. He couldn't believe what he just witnessed.

And you can tell for certain that he didn't connect with any handball? When camera angle is behind the player, as was the umpire. You cannot tell what happened. Nobody can. If you claim you know what happened behind his body, you are making stuff up.

If the umpire is unable to determine 'incorrect disposal' under the laws of the game, it is no free kick. Wishful thinking on your part does not override the laws of the game. I backed my comments by quoting the relevant laws. You took cheap shots and presented no evidence.

As or the tackler not believing what he just witnessed, you did make that up. Every player making a tackle appeals for HTB. I guess you just don't watch much football. The decision was correct under the relevant laws, whether you like it or not.

Edit: I also note you edited out 90% of my post making sure to exclude all the factual material. Try dealing with the whole thing and not cherry picking bits you want to make snide remarks about.

Wishful thinking is watching the footage and concluding the reason the ball dribbled out and hit Griffin in the knee was because he got a handball out. On what planet does the ball follow that trajectory after it has been handballed?

Every player stops and pleads for a HTB as the play continues a metre away? I don't think so. He couldn't believe the umpire missed such an obvious free kick.

Quoting relevant parts (instead of the entire post) is called forum etiquette :thumbsu:

Cutting out ALL the relevant parts is not forum etiquette. You still have not responded with any FACTUAL material. Conjecture is not factual material. You CANNOT exclude proper disposal. You are guessing based on the little that you see that it MIGHT NOT have proper. You cannot say for certain it was or wasn't. In those circumstance it is not proper to award a free kick based on a supposition.

Tell me the law of the game that you KNOW has been breached not the one you think was probably breached. We criticise umpire when they make decisions based on guesswork now your criticising one for not guessing what happened.

No guesses. Tell me which law you KNOW was breached. I've watched that part a dozen times and i cannot tell with any degree of certainty what happened because it was hidden by his body. In absence of any degree of certainty, its play on.
