So sad to see the great Pav playing as he is at the moment. He is a shadow of the giant that crashed packs and took such strong marks and kicked so many great goals. Please Pav- retire gracefully and be remembered for being the champion that you are.

You only remember him if you are a negative Nelly.

If you have the ability to see the positive (shock horror I know) things in life, you will remember how much of a champion and fantastic player he was.

Give it 5 years, no one will remember his last few games, unless that is their mantra in life.

Pretty much all the greats (which Pav definitely is) would have played an average last few games/last season. From my own club Dean Cox was average in his last season, I certainly don't remember him for that though.

Structurally as well Pavlich is still better for the team than Taberner, Apeness etc. Plus offers leadership which Freo need right now. Should he play another season then that's taking it a bit too far, but can't fathom him doing anything other than retire after it's over.

He should've retired last year, he looked cooked by the end of it

He would've retired last year if he knew how this season was going to pan out.

Pav playing on is pretty unselfish. Sacrificing a small part of his record/reputation because the team has no other forward options.

He is the opposite of a forward option at the moment, he's hindering them by being slow an off the pace, they could've blooded a kid who would've done exactly what he is doing, except with an upside

Bad ending sadly. Like I said on the Freo board, the situation is done now. Retire now or play out the year, both will not look good.

But have to agree on this. he doesn't seem to be a person who cares a lot for personal glory. Will do what he thinks the team needs most. So he deserves a lot of respect for that...

Who is he keeping out exactly?

Apeness? LOL.

How unexpected was this season within the Fremantle Football Club? Did Pav potentially know what laid ahead but forged on anyway for the greater good of the club?

Anyway, champion player who goes out on his own terms.

Name me the kid he is keeping out of the side ?

I find this whole obsession within the industry to continually talk about greats of the game being "cooked" embarrassing. Almost as much as trying to guilt over 30 year old players into not playing for another club as it somehow ruins their legacy.

Doesn't anyone find it ironic that the OP is a supporter of a team with quite a few players over 30 and talking about someone like Pav?

I know I certainly did.

I also think the ideal finish would be Pavlich mark just before the siren, kicks a goal after the siren in his 350th and then announces his retirement.

In saying that, Pavlich is an out and out champion and will always be remembered as such.
