Matthew Wade - how long?

Couldn't resist the temptation to have a go at him. Had figures of 0/120 odd before getting cheap wickets towards the end of the innings. Still 4-for but won't go anywhere near impressing selectors.

It's probably the worst performance he's put in this season. Was taking plenty of wickets at a miserly economy rate in the first half of the Shield season.

He is becoming a smash a team when they are on their knees specialist.

Nowhere to be seen when a tough innings is required.

I'm loving all the tough fighting innings Wade has had in first class cricket (and tests) in the last 18 months...

Honestly no one in Australia seems really capable of putting in a fighting innings outside of maybe our top 5-6 batsmen and even then that's debatable. Wade is certainly not doing any more or less than Nevill in fact when he came in late in the day in the day night tests when the ball was swinging he looked all at sea.

Nevill probably wasn't the best at it but Wade has only done worse so far as has almost everyone who's been in that position for us (6-7 in the batting order) in the last two years. Wade can slog a quick 30 runs but that's about the only thing he can do better than Nevill IMO.

To be fair it's another reasonably blunt attack he's faced

Runs are runs regardless though. Not saying that Wade should be dropped immediately but he needs 4 good tests in India.

Wade is in trouble if he moves states. He's surely only in the side as a political move to placate Victorians who complain of NSW bias.

Never a truer word spoken.....Vic Cricket....much bitter....and yet has a recent history of sub-test standard selections like no other state....Hastings, Maxwell, Quiney, Holland, Wade... need I continue?

We're just hanging our hats on Handscombe now.

Yep. Wade really needs to perform this series or Nevill is going to be back.

Praise the lord if that is the case. Wade behind the stumps is comical.

How Wade ever got back into the Australian team is truly staggering. For mine he is the worst test selection of the year, even worse then Siddle being picked in the first test, Mennie in the second and Maddinson for the last few tests. At least in Maddinson's case he was picked on promise as an attractive stroke player.

Nevill is proving that not only is he is a better keeper (as even everyone knew before the Wade selection) but also that he is a way superior bat - both technically and as a run accumulator.

All those saying that Neville's runs will get him back. Chris Hartley's making similar scores, though I reckon only age is holding him back. You want a competent keeper for a couple of seasons, there's your man.
Cricket is about winning every game. Unfortunately our selectors don't think so, so he won't get a game

As long as you ignore his absolutely deplorable keeping in the Big Bash where he missed more chances than he took...

But yes his batting which was terrible at test level is all redeemed by punishing a weak Tassie side, an even weaker Victorian side and now on the flattest pitch produced in Australia that would make Perth look like a bowlers paradise.

Its amazing that when he was dropped it wasnt a shock, hardly anyone would have opposed it but like so many before him, every players failures are forgotten once they are out of the side and history can be rewritten!

Had he been dropped for Whiteman or Hartley no one would be complaining, even if they had produced Nic Maddinson like numbers...

Because keeping in a Test is very different to keeping in a T20 game. You will find keepers often keep right up to the wicket to try and cut off quick singles, but in doing so, leave themselves prone to missing quicker deliveries. The batsmen are more unpredictable, the bowling is more unpredictable. T20 is not a keepers' game.

Didn't Haddin go back and dominate SS after he got dropped? Maybe it's the best thing for him. Nevill never really got going with his batting in Test cricket, maybe coming in with some form behind him will give him confidence.

To be fair when your top and middle order barely do jack all. There isn't much you can do with the tail just starting.
