Didn't hear much about him over the past few years, i guess most folks expected Crossthwaite to consolidate his position and become the no.1 keeper for Vic. Crossthwaite has shown a lot of promise but never really kicked on from being a junior star.

Wade is 21 and 3 months, showing remarkable maturity with the bat, ahead of say where white was at the same age, and ahead of michael clarke at the same age also.

Wade has also shown an ability to bat in pressure situations, where wiser maturer players fail.

also behind the stumps looks very very competent.

He does seem a geniune wicketkeeper, who can bat competently, as opposed to a batsman who can keep.

Now again, its only his second season, 3rd year of playing FC cricket, but if he can continue this form, IMO the selectors should seriously look at him for a test berth in the next couple of years.

Haddin's batting is solid to good, he could probably make a lot of test sides on his batting alone, but his keeping is adequate at best.

He took a while to find his feet at first class level but is now really showing why he was hyped as a child as a future star. He would be making the selectors take notice of him and would be the perfect age as Haddin retires for him to take over the WK position.

not as explosive with the bat from memory, but decent batter and very good glovemen

I'm sure the selectors would prefer to see a couple of years of solid form, at first class level, before considering him for a debut in the Australian XI. This may fit in nicely with Haddin's retirement plans, being 32 years of age in October.

Wade would have already been earmarked as a potential keeper for the future. He will be in the mix for the spot if he can replicate this season's form with the bat. You can not fault his record this year: 14 innings at 54 with two 100's and three 50's (with the final to play).

Mathew Wade is Jet batsman who can keep. He needs to make runs to make up for all of his dropped catches! Always has been

paine is better from tassie , after all thats why wade knicked off to victoria anyway couldnt get a game !. has improved but same as haddin can bat a bit but a poor keeper

I hope that the Aus selectors don't make the same mistake as the England Selectors a few years back. Please pick our best young keeper (Paine) ahead of a person who can keep a little bit but is a jet batsman.

Yes he lets some bye's through and does drop a few catches but he can take some amazing ones. I went to the VIC v S.A. game at the G about a month ago and he was so good that at times we didnt need a 1st slip.

These inconsistant errors will be removed with age. His batting has taken an amazing step foward this year from being just better than a tail-ender to being able to carry the tail. If he doesnt play for Australian i will be very amazed.

Did you hear that from a "VERY RELIABLE SOURCE"?? Has finshed the season well but hasn't moved from 5 or 6th in line to 2nd in 1 month

His form from the last few weeks has probably taken him past Paine. Paine had a solid year with the bad but didn't get any 100's whilst wade has hit two on the trot. Either way our Keeper/Batsmen stocks are good for the future.

His keeping is not great. Paine, manou, and Hartley are all better.

Wade is easily the better batsmen for the longer form of the game.
He will be our next long term keeper.
