Heard on AA this morning that we are looking to go a deal with the Lions, Wright for pick/s or Polec if Wright is prepared to move to Brisbane. Has anyone heard anything else about this one?

Guessing the assumption is we get the second rounder from Carlton?

Don't know if that's fair. Wright has shown more than polec, even with a down year but polec and a second rounder would be pretty surprising.

Polec alone is no where near worth Wright, a proven AFL quality midfielder/half forward, plus a second rounder. I suspect as Stripple suggests that if the are receiving a 2nd as well, then it would involve them giving up another player such as Docherty. Quite frankly I think Noble and his counterparts are working a rather large and complex multi-club deal, involving potentially 4-5 clubs. We were supposedly a large player in the failed super-trade to get O'Meara to GWS in 2011, I wonder if we're up to it again. It would certainly explain perhaps why the trade period has been so quiet so far. Anyway, we will see I suppose, it's just one massive test of every supporters patience.

You are joking right ?

Wright's been serviceable, but I'd hardly be viewing him as untouchable.

People always complain that we aren't aggressive enough with our list or at the trade table yet when we have an opportunity to move on a player for someone who has the potential to be elite we're too scared of failure to pull the trigger.

If we get Polec for Wright then we've had a win at the trade table.

Wright isnt in our top 5 midfielders, and he is now 2nd on the list of small forwards.
He may not even be best 22, so why would you complain if we got access to the 2nd round of the draft and the guy we want?
Seems like a pretty decent deal to me.

He is a good player but his ability would match quite a few others in the AFL and he would be replaceable.

I like Wright, but I don't think there's much room for improvement in him as a player, and he is (along with Lyons) a player where the Crows wouldn't have too much difficulty replacing him on the field.

Now if they expect the Crows to give them Wright + a 2nd rounder, than that's too much.

having signed a 2 yr extension in July, I would say Wright is almost certain to be a crow next year and people should forget about moving Wright on to Brisbane to get Polec.

Most of the players being discussed as trade options are currently contracted. Smack is almost the only exception. Vince, Lyons, Mackay & Henderson are all contracted.
