Now I'll start by saying YES I know helmets don't stop all concussions. American Football and medical study has proved this. BUT!!!!!!!
You can't bloody well tell me it wouldn't help Paddy if he just put damn helmet on that boof head of his??
I know if an AFL player gets smashed while bending over for the ball and somebody hip collides with their head then the helmet probably won't help at all.
But Paddy is a leading fwd who often jumps in a pack of players. Half of his concussions were from glancing fist, elbows , arms etc when flying for pack marks.
Surely a helmet reduces the risk of this type of concussion happening by a shitload.
Look at young Brayshaw and Kobys head clash. One of those guys had a helmet. The guy with it played on and Koby didn't.
Let's get over this Bullshit macho " I don't wanna wear a helmet" crap. Or the " I get too hot in a helmet" excuses and put a pillow on Mattress Guts head and let's see more of Paddy in 2018.

Anything that keeps him on the ground playing is a benefit to him and the team.
Yeah he has a shitload of talent and the poor bloke must be feeling more frustrated than we all are.
#GOHELMETHEAD

If it's a ego thing he can always go for a more subtle look

Helmets aid with headknocks definitely (e.g in Brayshaws clash with Koby), they don't really help in the situations where the brain is moved in the skull, for example when a player hits his head on the ground.

I don't really know how to make more sense of that but yeah, a helmet would still be beneficial to some extent for Paddy, but it won't completely make him bullet proof.

True.
Helmet probably works better on a fwd getting the glancing blows from defenders punching to spoil as opposed to mids getting smashed in packs more frequently.
The kid needs some luck. To me its the obvious thing to try.

Tell him the club will pay him a 5% commission for every helmet the club sells.
The club will also sell limited edition helmets personally signed by the big boof himself.
How can he say no to this.
Show you support for Paddy

Errr I mean #putyourhelmetout

I guess my only issue with this (and I have no idea if this is true or not) is for the potential for him to become even more reckless because he feels protected. Given what people have mentioned about helmets not preventing the brain from bouncing around in the skull, surely it would be more effective for Matty G to learn how to protect himself with better body positioning etc.

Brayshaws face hit Koby's head. I don't get people saying the helmet helped.

I wore a helmet playing footy. It definitely helps with little blows.
Yeah, but you do look like a dork so you may miss out on the big blows [emoji11]

Looked like he was hit on the padded helmet part on his forehead hardest.
If contact was slightly lower his nose would've looked like a chewed up gummy bear.
He was lucky.
