Bloke has trimmed down from all accounts...
As I mentioned last night....he absolutely has......saw him prior to the WC game.........he was walking straight towards me....had to look twice to realize it was him.

Quickly turned to my friend and said.."Does Paddy look overweight to you" as he walked past us....we were sitting down.

She looked at me as if I'm clueless(some are building a case for this) and said...."no way.....why do you ask that

I said.."long story"

I mentioned the above situation earlier in the season and that time he was about 30 feet from us on the ground...... this time he was 6 feet from us.....

He looked in great shape.

Helmets are like crumple zones for cars, they make the impulse of impact longer and therefore less severe. They have to help.

In theory, yes, but there is nowhere near enough padding to decrease force enough to make a practical difference. If you think of it on a numerical threshold in terms of force, an impact would have to be *just* enough to cause concussion on a non-helmeted head for a helmet to prevent concussion. A fraction more force beyond that, and you will get concussed all the same.

People pointing to Brayshaw's helmet as the reason why he was not concussed, whilst Stevens was, is incredibly obtuse. It has as much relevance as saying "Brayshaw didn't get concussed because he was wearing blue, whilst Stevens wasn't", or "Brayshaw didn't get concussed because his first name starts with A, whilst Stevens' first name starts with K". Correlation, not causation, with this one, folks.

The little benefit that the helmet may provide (keeping in mind that the helmet's minor impact absorption is dependent on angles and velocity, so it may well do literally nothing in some cases) would probably be outweighed by how much it may distract Paddy if it is uncomfortable to wear. Either don't bother, or work on designing one with much thicker padding that will actually have a tangible benefit.

Saw him at open training last week , should no longer be called mattress guts as he looked as fit as he could possibly be . He is a big bodied man to start with but he has totally slimed down . Looking forward to see how he goes next season . If he can stay as fit as he was last Thursday he might have his break out year . No only did he look super fit but he was marking everything in one grab not the two we are used too .

I only wish people would stop calling him mattress guts as he doesn't deserve that tag any more . He looks fitter than Hogan does .
