I should probably post this on the regional board but I agree with you re the Bays are a rabble. I have listened to Peter Simmons on a few occasions and thought, have we ever had a more uninspiring coach?

& here's me thinking we are on the improve.

Ill think he will survive. Reid did say that he will be seriously considered when contracts are looked at for next year and that the club thought it in his best interest to have the shoulder done now.
The club's credability could be under attack if they did delist him after this comment.

Should stay im a big fan of his i think he just needs some confidence so maybe craigy should chuck him for a few games before season end (providing he his fit) just to get some confidence and if he goes alright give him next year as a starter . He is a great in and under player and i find him dangerous round the goals with the pressure he applys on the backman is awesome.

So did Kym Hodgman & look what happened to him. :(

I was a Glenelg fan as a kid but was OS in 85,86 !!
What happened to Kym Hodgeman?
I always wondered what happened to him as he was fantastic before I left. When I came back, he'd gone! (well I moved immediately to Sydney and it was too hard to follow SANFL pre-internet)

Andrew Crowell was in a similar position.

Like Noddy I thought the Bays are actually showing some improvement - at least we are not in the basement.

This is difficult for me to admit, but if Bode is to go on as a crow he needs to transfer SANFL clubs and get out of the rabble that is the GFC. (I love the club but there are major problems)
I also doubt we would delist him as he does have trade value, (a Pagan case if I have ever seen one)
Funnily enough I don’t really care if he goes or stays, as I usually have strong opinions of our players. Just indifferent about the bloke.
He will not be traded - all clubs will call our bluff and wait for him to be delisted - I agree could be a good carlton get

Mark seriously is used in the context " we'll think about it" ;)

After looking at our list I have second thoughts on Bodey. I think he will be retained. Next year Macca, Goody, Edwards and Roo will all be 30+ and if you look at our under 30's midfield options, it looks a little thin. If you exclude Thommo, Mattner and Shirley ( major suprise packet ) our other options in Reilly, VB and Knights are still finidng their feet. Some might say, "what about Skippy" - I left him out as a viable midfield option on purpose. ;)

I see quality midfielders as a priority come draft time.

Won't be delisted. Still rate his inside work even if his kicking is suspect. Clearances are the key to modern football and Hudson is our best clearer this year, which doesn't say a lot for the rest. I'm sure Bode could improve us in this area if given a chance.

I'm in this camp on Bode. It amazes me when people say delist Bode and keep Schuback. Bode has proven that he can play AFL, Schuback hasn't even shown enough to warrant playing him at that level.

As Springy said our mid-field is getting old. Bode can help out there - Schuback can't.

Schuey is the one that should go out of these two IMO.

Both should go - the time to help out the midfield was this year - where is he ? in the SANFL

27 next year and only 84 matches on the board - and with a coach who has consitently shown a lack of faith in him.

Both he and Schuback are gone IMO ;)

I think Bode will go (a bad recruiting decision that his presence just keeps reminding us about!)
I would think the following will not be on the list next year:
Retirement:
M. Stevens
M. Clarke

Delist:
M. Bode
J. Krueger
C. Ladhams
M. Smith
S. Stevens

Lucky:
J. Begley
K. Massie
J. Schuback

Rookies:
R. Andrews (gone)
R. Nye (promote)
J. Griffin (promote)
J. Hinge (retain)

Will clear some of the dead wood, allow the influx of new blood on main list and rookie list and still provide 'depth'.

Spot on. I agree with your assement there.

I think that Bodey is gone. He just doesn't fit into our line up anymore.

Facts WW - never overlook the facts. :D

Bode was in the starting 22 right from the beginning of the year, so he obviously did have the confidence of the coach.

Played Rounds 1 and 2 before incurring a serious shoulder injury.

Missed several games before trying to play on in the SANFL with this injury. Realized after a few games at that level that this wasn't going to work or helping him and so has had the operation on that shoulder that he really needed all along.

I think he will survive, but we'll know in about 3 and a bit months rather than just guessing.

Schuback I totally agree with - he doesn't appear to have the confidence of the coach, nor has he ever doen anything to generate any confidence.

He would fit in if fit and gets picked he is a must stay

We have to look at Jerhico,Smith,Massie,Clarke[possible retire],Schuback,Pierre[honest performer but not the answer]Scott Stevens,Ladhams[like Bode should have got a game before round 14] and thats just of the top of my head.

Thats the trouble its off the top of your head ;) :p

Bodey will probably survive....but only as a depth player.

To be honest.......I would be concerned about the circumstances that would see Bode selected for a game......basically it would mean that 3 or 4 midfielders were injured.....and VB and Knights hadn't come along......that would be concerning for our club.....tryer and nice guy aside.

Your second statement just defeated your rationale behind the first statement

Rebuilding the midfield, concentration on youth development, draft priority this year on midfielders - I also find it hard to fathom the circumstances that would see Bode get a game - sorry GONE!

I'm in your camp WW, as I can't see a future for both. Bode will never be more than an average player IMO, so we are better off investing in the VBs, Knights, etc rather than wasting games on a guy who still cannot kick.

My man - all we have to do now is orchestrate a trade for Biglands ;)
