Vickery would have been snapped up first round no problem. He missed most of 2007 with a knee and had a great 2008, was All Australian and a standout in the Vic Metro team that won the championship. Probably the best judges of young talent in Kevin Sheehan and Emma Quayle both had him as a first round prospect. No problem with the selection on face value.

Very similar tale with Conca. Very highly rated.

I think we have had solid picks as far as how the players were rated. Our development has been utter garbage. Probably the worst in the league for a long long time. One can only hope we have turned this around in the last couple of drafts. Time will tell.

You are probably right, our development has been average at best, though I did seem to recall consensus on this board was that there was some other midfielder that most on here were hoping we'd pickup instead of Conca...

Conca was rated about number 20 amongst the draft followers. One of Jackson's " I'm a smart arse, and I've plucked one" picks. To say he was regarded as a good pick at number 6 is just bullshit.
And the judges were probably pretty close. As a number 20 pick, he has performed around the mark, maybe a bit worse because of injuries.

Not sure who is saying that he was a good pick at 6 but anyway it's a fact that some listed Reece as a possible #4 draft pick for WC. So whilst I agree he was down the list early on he shortened considerably closer to the draft.

As I said, solid reasons for picking him at 6. Colts form in WA outstanding and BOG in a few senior games when elevated to league level.
Take away the injuries and he could very well have been a good pick at 6.

Because he has his team kick to the end they are supposed to. Be looks at the camera and tells it how it is instead of playing games. He is a richmond man and not a ****ing idiot.

conca was not highly rated- lie- one bloke over there a scout rrated him highly and was prepared to put his job on the line for him- we feel for it- did not due his diligence at all- conca should have gone maybe 50
