With My Man going down will this open the door for Luke McEntee to be upgraded and showing us what he's got? I know from one of his ex team mates at North Adelaide that he could jump over every one of their ruckman as a 17 year old (Ben Hudson included), so it will be interesting to see if he gets upgraded!

Re: Bailey down = Opportunity McEntee???

I'd say he is a fair chance BPR, but the club might just wait and see if Collins or Suckling show anything early.

One ruckman down already, and it's only January. Renouf will most likely see a bit of time in the ones now if he follows the right path.

Re: Bailey down = Opportunity McEntee???

Question lads... Is McEntee good enough at this stage of his development do you think??

I suppose its this year or never isn't it.

Re: Bailey down = Opportunity McEntee???

Should be interesting... Opens up alot of oppurtunities for the more fringe Talls at the club..My tip is Renouf will get the nod first, being new to the club and all they'll wanna see what he has and If he falls down McEntree should get a crack...

It's not as bad as it seems, As long as Robbi Campbell can keep fit and improve on his stunning 06 we should have a good ruck unit regardless.. Still a shame though, :( Get well soon Wickets !!! ( Bailey, Bails, Wickets, Get it now? :p )

Re: Bailey down = Opportunity McEntee???

I suppose the biggest negative, besides obviously Maxxy not being out on the park is that now Robbi is pretty much confinded to ruck... Any option of throwing him down to Fullback is just about out the window :(

Arr well, we gotta cop it on the chin, roll with the punches, hes a young lad he'll be right... Carn Hawkers !!! :D

McEntee has shown a bit at Box Hill in the reserves.
He would want to improve on last year to be in contention with Suckling and Collins.
Is he up to it? not sure, but he as long as he keeps showing improvement he's a chance of sticking around.

We now have Campbell and Taylor as out most experienced ruckman and Renouf as back up, and if one more of them goes down we're up sh*t creek.:(

Re: Bailey down = Opportunity McEntee???

Taylor = Delisted end of Season

Absolutly useless, has shown nothing at all IMO sinse arriving at the club

People were saying the same thing about Campbell at the start of last year.

Given that Taylor signed a two-year deal halfway through last year, he'd have to have a bad year of some magnitude to force the club's hand into paying him out early and showing him the door.

I believe the opposite. Big guy, solid.

In his first year got thrown into the ruck earlier than everyone wanted.

Last year injured a bit.

Can take a mark and more importantly kick goals.

I think you'll find him not just warming the bench waiting for Robbie to have a spell but play time down forward. Thats certainly where he's been training.

He will look after Williams and I think do it well.

Re: Bailey down = Opportunity McEntee???

I believe Taylor will step up and make a lot of supporters eat their words.

I thought he showed some promise in 2005 when RC was injured, and he was thrown into the second ruck. We must remember his first sport was rowing, so he has a lot to learn, he cuts me up when he tries to bounce the ball.

This is his chance. He is big and can take a grab, so give him a fair go.

Re: Bailey down = Opportunity McEntee???

Good call Rustyhawk...I am sick and tired of all the ST bashers on this site. Further to the above, we must remember that Taylor misssed the second half of last season(03) with Box Hill due to a collapsed lung..(pretty serious injury) which led to a limited pre-season for 04, hence the below average games we saw in his debut year.

Depite all this, in 04 he managed to kick three goals in one game against Essendon, and even managed to break even in the ruck a couple of times agianst some good ruckman.

ST bashers go on as if he was a top 10/15 draft pick - far from it, he went at around 56 and and has more than justified his pick thus far. With a full pre season under his belt(finallY) I'm tipping that he will more than hold his own against the good ruckman in the the league as well as bag a few goals when rested forward.

If he fails dismally this year ok I'll admit my call was way off but until then GIVE THE BIG FELLA a chance before you keep shooting him down!!

Fine I retract my negativity towards ST for now... But If he does fail next year you owe me a coke :D :D :D

Re: Bailey down = Opportunity McEntee???

He will be first choice....

Crunch time for him, I hope he excells.
probably the most correct post in this thread, he needs to have a decent season to cement his spot in the side

Well ST has a two year contract. So he's going to be with the club in 2008 regardless, so its not exactly crunch time. He got that contract not due to his performances to date but more due to the uncertainty regarding Spida's contract situation.

If ST can't lift his performances on what he's shown to date and he continues to be the default candidate for the ruck then Hawthorn will get smashed in the ruck.:(

I hope Luke makes the most of this opportunity to impress in training in the hope of being elevated to the Senior List.

Either way, with Bailey now out of the equation and Taylor likely to play off the bench, Renouf and McEntee are going to have a prime opportunity to show off their wares for Box Hill this year.
