Just saw the replay. Grant was in mid air and targeted Max's head with a tucked in elbow. No intention of going for the ball. Could have pulled out of the hit. Absolute Dog act.

I have always felt sorry for Grant missing the Brownlow in 97. Not anymore. Should get a couple for his dog act.
Exactly! Absolute no intention for the ball just the man.

Joffa about time 'Max' learnt to protect himself which is all Grant did, Grant di not see him until he was in the air, whats he meant to do leave himself open so he is in hospital instead?

You are the most blinkered poster on this board.

he should have at least gone for the mark instead of looking straight at max and lining up his head

If he goes then the system is totally ********ed. To even compare that to the amount of weeks Pickett got is a joke

Shouldnt even go up

So in the .5 of a second Grant had to position his body he deliberately targetted him? He was already in the air when he saw him, watch his friggen eyes! You are watching it is slow motion and assuming he had all the time in the world, self preservation, noting more.

Sometimes I wonder whether anyone on this board ever pulled on a boot.

Grant had to jump for the mark, he would have been dragged if he had made no effort simply because an opponent decided to throw himself back at the ball. Grant had to assume that Max wouldn't get there and take off for the mark. Once you're in the air, you can't change direction, all he changed then was to bring his arm in to protect himself.

Congratulations on being able to assess a situation objectively even though it was against your own team. A BigFooty rarity.

Can't explain it any better than that
There was absolutely nothing in it, what else was he supposed to do? Maybe let Max smash into his ribcage by lifting his arm above his head so he wouldn't get rubbed out?

Should NOT even get to the tribunal.

It probably will.

He'll probably get 3 weeks.

And the game that was once played by men will be further reduced to glorified basketball.

JOKE.

Surely Grant will not go, was trying to take the ball on his chest & Maxy courageously backed into him. Unfortunate accident no more no less.

Grant infact tried to spin his body once he realised contact was imminent, in an attempt to decrease the impact. That said the Co@khead commentators would have Grant hung & quartered, amazing that 2 key forwards would choose to take this line of attack aginst Grant.

BTW can BT tell the difference between Bandy & Darcy ??? How many times can he stuff it up??

I agree not reportable. Maxy cut in front of Grant who was on a lead and left the ground in the process of taking a chest mark. At the last minute he twisted away and cleaned up his back. There was no high contact IMHO. Stiff but bumps like this have long been part of the game.

Saw a similar incident with Lloyd and J.Cloke a couple years back, of course this is a new system and Essendon get a more than decent run, but that wasnt reported.

Never thought I would ever say this BUT Morgoth you are 100% correct.
Has anyone here actually seen it at normal speed?

OUCH ;)

If you step in front of a leading forward, you are putting yourself in the firing line and its called courage, not illegal.

Most Ive ever seen for an incident like that is a free kick, which was a joke but if he goes, then Bulldogs fans can feel upset.

The contact to me looked to be on the shoulder and on the side, the impact knocked him offbalance and he was KOed by his head hitting the ground, not from the impact.

It is sad to see a player get hurt, but it is very much like the incident we had with Firrito last week where he was slung in the tackle, it was not crude, he just hit his head on the ground. Part of football. If you play the incident at normal speed, Grant had an opportunity to take the mark but only had a split second to realise that he was going to connect heavily with him if he tried.

Someone going back with the flight of the ball does not have 'untouchable' status, it is very brave but very risky and as long as the other player has eyes on the ball he has also every right to go for the ball aswell. Grant could have KOed him in the contest but didn't, he pulled away and pulled out of the marking contest so he wouldn't hurt or kill him.
