I spent my first year out of school getting blackout drunk. That must have been why I never got drafted.
Ah, many have fallen for that trap. Had multiple people trying to get me to take my footy more seriously but girls and alcohol calling me in another direction. Guess who won?

Talking about 1.19

I had to laugh today

This morning I messaged the tour company (airport transfer) asking whether I should wait curbside of in reception for my 7:30 pickup.

I got an email at 8:49 saying - wait in reception.

Cool. I'm already at the airport waiting. But come on. Replying 1h19m after scheduled pickup? Cmon man.
Nobody cares.

I'd seen none of Max prior to this season but assumed he'd be a skinny kid who'd need to bank a couple of preseasons before we saw him

Has taken to it like a duck to water

Credit to the coaches for throwing caution to the wind too and plonking him straight in. Hamill and MacPherson (and Jones I guess) were there as options
Tex kept saying towards the end of pre season to watch out for Max and that he was his pick for a round one debut. Clearly impressed everyone at the club since he arrived and it's translated seamlessly into the season.

As well as everything else people have mentioned, the attacking mindset he has as soon as he's soon the ball for someone so young and in his first season shows immense belief in himself. This is gold.

I think this is a big factor in how well he's done, he's believed from day 1 that he can beat these guys.

He also knows he's bigger than most of the guys he's defending so even though he's skinny, they can't push him around. It's actually the opposite and he's been bullying some of the premier small forwards in the competition.

I will go as far as saying he is the most impressive and important draft pick we have had since Sloane/Danger era....that clip above is quite insane. His composure, smarts and genuine skill/ability for a skinny first year back is remarkable.

GUN
With his disposal ability, i wonder whether we could develop him in a quarterback type role off half back where he literally is the distributor out of defence. He has sublime skills for such a young player

I'll just leave this here, for you to enjoy the pressure, workrate & execution under intense pressure.

No wonder the Port Power nuffies are so jealous, I don't recall them whingeing he isn't technically eligible as a F&S pick since he was projected to only go in the mid 2nd round lol.

He'll probably get Breust this week a seasoned professional multiple premiership player who in the past has taken us to the cleaners will be interesting to see how he goes on him
He did appear to play on Breust for most of the game & kept him unusually quiet.

Just keeps taking scalps.

190cm defenders should never go top 10
I would gladly select Ben Hart as a top 10 pick... but I think he was 1.91m from memory.

Edit, no he was 1.88..

Ditto Nigel Smart who was 1.88m.

Talent is talent.

Matching the Swans bid, we have selected Max Michalanney with pick 17!

Height: 191cm
Weight: 78kg
DOB: 26/2/2004
Club: Norwood (SANFL)

I just went back and watched this highlights package, and it showcases everything that Michalanney is doing now at AFL level.

Often when I see draft highlights I think "well that looks good on a highlight package, but there's no way you'll get away with that kind of play at AFL level." I remember thinking that last November as well, shows what I know! :p

Big call considering TT and Rachelle kicked 5 each on debut but your right.

Slight upgrade on Jake and DMAC
