I think there is a play on words going on - but I've missed it too ...Hasn’t your thoughts been they’ve coached the flair out of him.
You think the best thing for him is to do a tagging job?

Genuine question, you think that’s his go now, or just get him into the team to start. But he has a defence first drummed into him
Really I’m not 100% sure, I just think he has the speed a toughness for Picket, I just like to give on more chanceGenuine question, you think that’s his go now, or just get him into the team to start.

Chayce is also very quick which will come in handy for whoever tags Pickett. ASlso has the tank to follow Pickett whether in the midfield or forward. Not an outlandish suggestion at all.Really I’m not 100% sure, I just think he has the speed a toughness for Picket, I just like to give on more chance
Maybe ... he has the grunt and the speed, not sure he has the guile though? Could see him giving away a heap of frees.Really I’m not 100% sure, I just think he has the speed a toughness for Picket, I just like to give on more chance
Not sure whose call it was but I like the fact we are playing players like Max in different positions, especially when we are winning. I remember the Blight years and we had so many players with flexibility, it will give us options in the finals if things aren’t going our way.No Max is a gun defender.
Leave him there!
Play players to their strengths.
Did we play Hart much in the midfield or up forward successfully?
No issue using Max in a role to negate a gun defender, but otherwise imo he is a defender. Not sure whose call it was but I like the fact we are playing players like Max in different positions, especially when we are winning. I do agree though that he could be an absolute gun defender though
Shouldn't we be using Pedlar in those "Tom Stewart negating" type roles??No issue using Max in a role to negate a gun defender, but otherwise imo he is a defender.
He has had very little time as a mid at AFL level and didn’t shoot the lights out. Maybe that will change in the future. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves.wasted as a lock down defender.
He is almost a complete player.
Can play anywhere - lock down def, attacking def, lock down mid, attacking mid, lock down fwd, attacking fwd.
Shouldn't be pigeon-holed as a defender when he can play as a mid or forward (both attacking and defensive minded)
Michalanney is a far better option than Pedlar, he's stronger in the air, more disciplined, reads the drop of the ball well and his height matches up better with Stewart. Michalanney has a good turn of pace and in this small sample at least demonstrated he has a sense of forward craft.Shouldn't we be using Pedlar in those "Tom Stewart negating" type roles??
Sorry, it was a joke about how disastrously that plan went for us in 2024Michalanney is a far better option than Pedlar, he's stronger in the air, more disciplined, reads the drop of the ball well and his height matches up better with Stewart. The Crows may have just stumbled upon a great option for certain matchups to negate attacking defenders and make them accountable.
It's not a tactic for every game as MM is an superb defender but we do have alternative options to cover his absence back down in Edwards, Ryan and Bond.
Yeah, he fell in.Sorry, it was a joke about how disastrously that plan went for us in 2024![]()
It's a shame Milera, Laird and Smith all aren't realistic options to play on an opposition's dangerous small/mediums forwards. The dilemma will come when playing a team like Collingwood. Do you send Max forward to negate Jeremy Howe or back to negate Elliott or Hill.
Has to play back IMO with flexibility to go forward if a player like Howe is off the chain.

He is still most valuable to us as a (A+ grade) playmaking medium defender - shuts down his man and sets us up off halfback.wasted as a lock down defender.

Robs us of flexibility.
We need Max for Shai Bolton, Jordan DeGoey, Petracca, Charlie Cameron etc.
Milera played on Hill during the last game against Collingwood and did a good job. Against teams with multiple small and medium threats he'll play those sorts of roles. It's a shame Milera, Laird and Smith all aren't realistic options to play on an opposition's dangerous small/mediums forwards.

To give you an idea how criminally under rated Max is, Fox Footy did their best 22 under 22, and Max didn't make it. Let that sink in
Fox Footy can be more incestuous than the Habsburgs, though. They actually need to attend all interstate games to realise there is an "Interstate"
