Having a look on the Crows board looks like Goodwin might be trade bait for the Crows. I think Goodwin might just be the answer for Richmonds trading success. Brown just doesnt look like hes going to the Tigers at the moment. Solomon.. well who knows what hes doing at the moment.

I, for one, would love to have the bloke at the club. He and Johnson would know each other which could swing things our way.

Holland + #6 = Goodwin?
#6 = Goodwin?
Bowden + 4th Round = Goodwin?

or.. one the Crows supporters love me saying - Holland + Rogers = Goodwin :)

Thoughts?

I didn't even bother to read your post, but, quite simply, no single player is THE answer for Richmond. It would take a whole stack of quality players to even start to find the question, from there, a few more players may help you find the answer to that question.

If Goodwin is trade bait, then maybe we can wangle a similar deal to what we did last year with the Crows...

Holland and pick #6 for Goodwin and pick #12 (??? or whatever their natural pick is)

That would seem quite fair?

I like your thinking CJH. However from pick and above this year its quite a lottery, so Adelaide may not think they will be guarenteed to better what we get at potentially pick 12. So they probably wont go for this.

I like the idea of:

Bowden and 2nd round pick (or)

Dont count Fiora out of any equation, they may look to ship him back home in part of and trade with the SA clubs.

How old is Goodwin anyway. I like him because he's honest and hard working.

I want the club to keep our first pick..... period.

As good as Goodwin is i hope the club dosn't entertain giving Holland + our first pick for a 27 year old who is at his peak and would only give us a couple more seasons where his value would be effective .

The prospect of picking up a 10 year key player from the draft is a much more enticing prospect. The recruiters must and should identify the best prospect with our first pick and get him.

As for you crows fans considering Ottens as a part of the deal .........forget it.

If the question is- "Where do we get an outside midfielder that gets lots of easy ball to replace Joel Bowden, but disposes better?"

Then Goodwin is the answer. But there is nobody at Richmond with the intelligence to ask that sort of question, so I don't think they will say yes to it.

Have you read what these Adelaide fans want for him? Fair enough if Goodwin was 23-24, but the guy is 27 and missed 6 games last season.

Having two teams in your state must give you a screwed up view of trade values. Too much pumping up of their own tyres over there! You ain't getting Ottens nor a first round draft pick for Goodwin!

This coming from the board suggesting we'd get rid of Goody in return for Bowden?! Why would we get rid of a two time premiership midfielder and best and fairest for Joel Bowden?!

The six games he missed were from a broken bone that could happen to anyone, not soft tissue injuries or anything that will inhabit his future career.

And just for the record, Goody has been assured he'll be with us next year...but I guess anything can happen.

I wouldn't trade Bowden for Goodwin, I realise Goodwin is in the elite midfielders. I just have doubts about trading for a 27 year old midfielder, full stop.

Well said MY. No more quick and short sighted fixes. We need to rebuild our list over the next 3 years.

I didnt mean he was going to fix everything. What I ment was that he could help out in the midfield and provide Coughlan, Johnson, Campbell and Tivendale some releafe. Surely he isnt going to fix everything at the club even if he does come down. Brown and Solomon just dont look like they are coming to the Tigers at the moment.
