Does he get paid? Because he really shouldn't. Homesickness =/= depression.

I just don't understand when players do this. I moved across the country away from my family for work at his age. There were times when I missed my family and wanted to talk to them, and for those situations there's this thing called the telephone.....

Or facetime at your fingertips. Can carry on the same relationship without the cuddles or Mum's lamb roast.

You don't know what could happen. I reckon i'd be pretty depressed if I kept doing something I didn't want to do, in a place i hated.

Which makes his contract extension strange. Sounds to me like his motives have changed. Get your head turned because someone says you can have your cake and eat it too. He had a good year and was suddenly in demand.

It could absolutely become depression. But until such time as he is diagnosed with clinical depression, this is homesickness, which is not an illness, and he shouldn't be paid.

If I had clinical depression and needed time off of work, and I had the medical certificate to verify it, I would be granted leave with pay. If I missed my family and wanted to spend some unscheduled time in Adelaide, my employer is under no obligation to pay me during this time off of work.

That's a good way to make him feel good about being involved in the club......

Good for culture too for the club to treat a close friend of many of their employees like trash more then they already have.

Well GWS and their hard line has turned to shit. Blind Freddy could see he wasn't happy there and this would happen. I notice in their presser they are concerned for his welfare .Where was the concern 5 months ago. Stupid decision to force him to stay. Gws should have accepted a deal.
They would've if you'd offered something approaching his value. You didn't.

Why? His issue seems to be that he wants to be in WA........

Where is Fremantle?

Because if he doesnt get his way he takes a year off.

What if he tells Fremantle that he only wants to train 2 days a week and will never ever play against GWS?

He isnt a newly drafted child who has suddenly been hit by the realisation that his life is about to change massively. He is 20 years old.

BTW he is drafted for 2017 as well. So we may well see this happen again next year.

May not even be costing GWS if he is off on an insurance claim.

Well he hasn't taken a year off for starters so you may need to pump the brakes.
