Listening to 5AA on the way home from the game tonight (and I called in :p ) - according to Chris McDermott

1. The umpiring was OK.

2. Adelaide were just as responsible as Collingwood for the negative, poor standard of the game.

3. Neil Craig is "a man under siege".

And any of this surprises you? LOL:D

I thought the game was a brilliantly hard fought contest. AND WE WON! What more does he want?

I heard all that. The comments of a fk-wit!!

What you haven't mentioned is the anti-Adelaide grudge that he carts around with him.

Rucci should sign him up as an apprentice.

1) I agree to an extent. I dont think it was deplorable (definitely not great), but there were some very odd decisions that I didnt agree with.

2) Definitely not, again nowhere near the extent that Collingwood were. I do believe teams come over here to deliberately bottle it up and avoid a spanking. IMO, that was evident tonight.

3) At 15-3 ?

My main beef with that B grade group called Goldstink and the Green Maggots was not so much the decisions they played but more the ones that weren't paid to us.

Hentschel must feel like a piece of taffy through the mauling that he received from Prestigiacomo, which was totally ignored. He alone should have had 4 to 5 obvious frees in front of goal.

Again in front of our scoring goal, Bode had his neck screwed off and there were a few holding the balls not paid in our favour.

I though we were very hard done by!!

Mr Goldspink and Mr Mcleod had a crossing of paths pre game.

Mcleod had a little smile and Mr Goldspink found reason to turn his head around and watch Mcleod walk away??

Anyway back to topic,Mcdermott wouldnt last 3 weeks on this site if he posted like the way he commontates.:thumbsd:

Even when the ump called the ball up Bode was pointing to the arm around his neck.

I didnt say it was good, just not deplorable. Tarrant got that free at the end which was odd considering Trent was being scragged a fair bit by Presti.

Bode was interesting, was that the one at the southern end about 30m out ? Even when the whistle went, the arms were still around the throat. Quite perplexing. A lot of the frees that we gave away to Collingwood I thought were there, but I do agree, a lot of ours were missed.

Oh thank god... I thought McDermott was untouchable (you know, previous Crows captain and all).... I have NEVER liked his commentary. He drives me nuts. On White Line Fever (fox footy channel) he is gushingly pro-Crows (and decidely anti-port). But when he calls a game, I pull my hair out. Talk about say the bleeding obvious and opening mouth to change feet!

What did you really expect? McDermott is a complete ****er of the highest order.
Well, as many on this board will know, I'm not one for sledging our friends in the media :) and it takes a lot to get me to post such a rant.

But what I heard tonight was such a comprehensive 3-point display of ignorance that I just had to do it ;)

That's the one alright. It was a cross between a stranglehold and a half nelson - a genuine jugular crusher. Bode was lying on the ground appealing for the free with this big hairy anthropoid's arm wrapped around his adam's apple - but was paid the usual nothing.

I must admit - I got into the car last night and the first caller was from WA - and Huey, Duey, and Luey proceeded to talk about Fitzroy Crossing and some disco where she used to pick up men............

.............Mad Dog's temple's began to throb and he changed over to Triple M...

FiveAA - have turned the aftergame talkback time into a Discovery Channel phone in to see how many people in remote places around the planet listen to the call...

I'm done with that - take it to the Leon Byner time slot...:thumbsd:

Triple M for me from now on while I drive home.

So sorry Arrowman - I missed your chat - but your point goes without saying ....McDermott = Bitter. Twisted. Tosser.

I saw most of the game and totally agree with 1 and 2
BUT
cannot see why 3 unless it is in a different context to the obvious one.

but when will Craig win a flag ? Crows should of atleast got into the grand final last year, they finished on top afterall.

What will happen if they dont win the flag again this season ?

C'mon how can you take this guy seriously. The so called "expert" wanted us to trade 2 x 1st round draft picks for Brad Ottens. There's a reason why McDermott couldn't get a coaching gig at even a SANFL club.

I turn the sound off if McDermott is calling a game. The anti-Crows bias is incredible.
Think he is bitter about not being found a job after he retired as a player.
Yeah, those obvious unpaid frees in our forward line! It was as thjough the Pies backmen had licence to maul our forwards. The unpaid free to Bode was a disgrace, but it was one of many.

I don’t really care about the first 2 questions so I will only respond to the third.

You implied that Neil Craig is not “a man under siege” as you’re opposed to the comments by Chris McDermott, what are the ramification to the A) the football club and B) the playing list if we do not win the grand final?

Of course Neil Craig is a man under siege as we are sitting a game clear on top spot and he would be expected to take the club to it 3rd grand final appearance this year.

If we do not make the grand final now, major changes to the playing list should occur as well as questions asked about his ability to coach in finals. Last year it was easier to accept missing the grand final as it was unexpected but this year will be different. If we do not make the grand final, head should roll as this current group are obviously not up to playing in the crunch.

Am listening to 5AA at the moment and Rucci just been on and more questions about Adelaide. Its just sensational journalism thats it in a nut shell, the switchboard lit up. just as they wanted.

Then they went on about Johncock. From what I saw on the replay, there wasn't even a punch to the stomach.

For christ sakes, we have secured a top two spot and we can make some adjustments over the next four weeks.

McDernott, has a bigger chip on his shoulder than we could ever imagine.

Comment made by both McDermott and Rucci that the premiership race was wide open. When was it ever closed? Adelaide's invincibility was a creature of the media and not of the AFCs making.

And another thing, he has just said that Collingwood's midfield was bottom 4. Well, wasn't it just two weeks ago that they beat West Coast in Melbourne (who have the best midfield). McDermott is crap, end of story.

You cannot say on one hand that Neil Craig has saved a number of current player careers (Massie, Stevens, Doughty, Bock and Rutten) with out at least considering he could have done the same thing to Brad Ottens.

2 first round pick was the asking price and that what Geelong paid. If Brad Ottens was with the AFC his fitness base and playing standard would be so different so them 2 first round pick could have looked like a god sent bargain.

I am getting fed up with this hatred of everyone who has a perceived biased against the Adelaide Football Club simply because they are willing to tell us the truth. Chris McDermott doesn’t have a chip on his shoulder or any hatred towards the AFC, he is just willing to say what’s actually happening with out adding a bit of sugar coating to appease the masses.

Neil Craig is under siege, the umpiring wasn’t bas last night and we don’t help the spectacle of the game when we slow it down.

Sorry, but anyone who still thinks that with the right coaching/the moons align/Howard says sorry Brad Ottens will finally realise the hype knows sweet FA about footy.

I don't think Chris has a biased against the Crows but I do believe his football knowledge is overrated.

Johncock did punch that squib Broadie Holland in the guts (not enough to make any impact) but his clenched fist did head in a direction towards his mid rift and it appeared to make contact.

We had just won the last 8 game by an average winning margin of 64 points, the closes challenger was west coast who has just been belted by Collingwood. Every media scribe has every reason to suggest we were a lay down messier to win it all. After the West Coast lost gave 6 or 7 other club hope of winning it all.

How the **** does he has a chip on his shoulder, all he is doing is simply telling the truth and you just don’t like hearing it.

Did we watch the same game? I agree that the free kicks against us were definitely there... it's the free kicks that were not awarded to us that was the real concern.

Neil Craig is no different to any other coach in the league. EVERY coach is constantly under seige... either from pressure from within the club because of under-performance or from pressure external to the club (media). The fact that the media start playing the "who will be the first coach to be dumped" by round 5 every year can't be a good feeling for any of them.

Regardless of slowing down play (because of good manning up), last night's game was very enjoyable (because we won). Think I might have not enjoyed it as much had we lost. :D
