I havent gone to a game at MCG for many years -because i dont live in Victoria -but what is it about the MCG city end goals

Every time a team gets jumped at the start -99% of the time -the team dominating are kicking to the city end goals

Examples -Saturday nights game . The 2nd game against Collingwood this year 8 goals to 1 . The Hawthorn game 9 goals to 1 . The 2010 PF Collingwood blitzed us in the 1st qtr -kicking to that end. THE 2011 game against Collingwood we kicked 2 10 in 1st qtr -could have easily been 8 or 9 goals

Since they built that new stand on outer side -in alot of MCG games there seems to be a clear advantage to the city end goals

In the last 5 years -i cant think of any game (excluding gws and suns) between any teams -where one team totally dominates and kicks 7 or 8 goals in 1st qtr at Punt Rd end -it just doesnt happen

could just be coincidental as each side swapped momentum shifts and dominated for a good 15 or so minutes.
Turns out when Hawthorn started to dominate, they were kicking that end of the ground and then the same again the following quarter once Sydney began to gain the momentum

Might have been at the fridge but can't recall the flogs on 7 speaking of it as such, but then again talking about the game and it's intricacies isn't their strong suit.
Richo talked about it near the end of the 3rd qtr, saying how 14 goals to 3 have been kicked at one side due to the wind, the other flogs wouldnt of mentioned it though.

Hawthorn scored 77.78% of their score at one end. (Sydney 68.13% at the same end).
Of the 104 scores at the MCG in 2012, Hawthorn's was the 5th highest percentage of total score scored at one end.

Hawthorn's 1 behind quarter was the first in a Grand Final since 1958.

Of 104 scores at the at the MCG in 2012, 40 of those scores (38.46%) saw 60% or more of the total score scored at one end.

The highest percentage at one end in 2012 was Melbourne's 82.05% in round 15.
However in the same match, Richmond scored 55.45% of their total score at that end.

In Round 24, 2011, our 10 goal quarter against the Pies was to the City End too.

My daughter played in an exhibition game (not Auskik) pre-game and she said it felt like a 4-5 goal wind.

Wind was a massive factor on Saturday....I couldn't believe there was very little mention of it on the TV.

Huge advantage to the team kicking that way...Hawthorn just didn't make the most of it!
