we're not that much better than last year, i really thought 2012 - the year we dont pull out an absolute shitter once a month and lose to teams we should beat. well the reality is that's at least a year away, lucky to get over gc and north who both have shite exposed form.

that said, we'll probably hose sydney next week.

Why the HELL weren't long stops made mandatory at Qtr time?? Pathetic.. just lost for words for how crap we were.. bunch of show ponies that had no way to drive ourselves to perform in less than perfect conditions.

Melbourne dragged us down to their disgustingly pathetic level and we let them.. disgraceful effort that needs a strong response from the coaching panel. Six years in a row has seen us get ahead of ourselves and start playing above our system.. reality check time.

Could get ugly if something isn't done NOW about our lack of effort and commitment when things aren't going our way..

Here's more of an analysis than a vent.

The bombers have become a successful side this year by using fast effective disposals to make their way through defensive zones.

Problem is, this game style is just too risky in slippery conditions because all it takes is one slipped hand pass or fumbled take and it's a turn over.

Having said that I can't count the number of times a free player failed to simply pick the ball up to kick an uncontested goal.

Very very poor showing.

I understand the whole underestimating your opponent and giving them a sniff, I thought at half time Bomber and Hirdy would have addressed that and woken them up.
We dominated early but the goal kicking was below amateur level.
It looked like a few of the boys might have bought into the hype so instead of playing hard and smart footy they wanted to dot he flashy thing and it wasn't working.
Tonight is a great example of what has been wrong with us for years, we can't beat teams we should beat and until we can start banking games like this consistently we will remain middle of the road at best.
Not the end of the world, kick some arse on the track this week, let the showponies read some of the press they get this week and smash the swans next round.
Now I am going to smash my phone because the incessant messgaes are driving me crazy and I'm going to burn down my house.

Hurley needs to learn how to mark and kick a goddamn ball, he's been shithouse all year. Sure have some difficulties picking the ****ing ball up and kicking into the forward 50. Terrible skill all round, everytime we kicked into the forward 50 it was straight to a melbourne player. Melksham should be dropped he's done sweet **** all for to long.

Some absolutely atrocious attitudes out there tonight. Dees wanted it more and it showed, even though we could have put them away if we'd converted early.

No plan B at all. Just kept bombing it on top of our forwards heads all night.

Out worked, Melbourne wanted it more.

That said, the Melbourne defenders had confidence to scrag and hold our forwards all night, because they weren't paying any frees there.

I'm happy to write this off as an aberration. If we lose next week, I'll be worried

seriously in some plays, we had free guys running running over the top and the kicker kicks the ball long to a ****ing contest one v one and ends up being a point or a break up in play. learn to handball ffs.

Our boys finally paid the price for their disgraceful arrogance. We have seen glimpses of it in the past few matches but it really came to a fore tonight.

***k this positive affirmation approach too, Hird and Bomber need to tear them a new one big time.

All of this flash and dash is great in perfect conditions but on a wet G, it's a farce. A simple soccer off the ground will suffice when you are clear and directly in front of goal only a few metres out.

It's concerning that in wet conditions we almost lost to Gold Coast & losing tonight in same conditions.

Like most on here I am gonna cop it for a week

At least we are 8 from 10... start of the season would of taken it, don't know about losing to the bottom team though
