Re: Have a vent in 'ere - Fumble fumble fumble...

Is your team winless, traveling bad, out of form or lacking confidence? Does your teams future look bleak? Well I have the solution for you!
Play Essendon and get that win you need! That confidence booster!
Lady: So it doesn't matter how bad the team is travelling?
Man: Even if your team has no wins by round 10 with a % of 50. They are still a chance!
But that is not all. If your team plays them during wet weather, the win is guaranteed!
Lady: Guaranteed?
Man: Guaranteed! Your team doesn't need to do anything, but watch them slip and slide! It is that easy! So get in quick!

:)Ha ha

What I want to see this week is accountability and pain.

I don't think it's good enough to say "well that was a lesson, and we've moved on". Nah-uh, not good enough.

I'll be someone relieved if I see the following:

1) An absolute, unholy flogging on the track. That was completely unacceptable and they deserve to be whipped Old Testament style. We've been pleased with our depth this year - so prove it. If anyone doesn't come up from training we have replacements.

2) Melksham OUT. You're a young fella (at least compared to me), so I don't want to be too harsh, but you are playing like a struggling VFL player, and thats where you belong. No consideration for seniors until you prove you are above the seconds.

3) Pears OUT. My god, what has happened to him? Has he just not come back from injuries? Completely out of sorts, seems to have no feel for the game and is a complete liability. Seconds this week, and barring a dramatic turn around in form he'll be there for a while.

4) Reimers IN. When the seniors play that badly, if you perform well in the seconds I think you deserve another crack. I know he's been hot and cold, but am happy to give a game to someone that is at least putting in some effort.

5) Compulsory intensive goal kicking training. 0.10 for career forwards would be unacceptable in a blizzard. In drizzling rain it's a crime against football. Fifty shots each from multiple positions. Anyone that converts at less than 60% dumped from the side. I'm looking at YOU Hurley.

6) Crameri OUT. If only to give him a two week rest (with the bye). He didn't look right in Saturday, a fortnight to freshen him up might do him a world of good.

7) Gumbleton IN. He's had a preseason all on his own, has put on considerable weight, played a full game on the weekend and played well. Quit ****ing around, he's either going to break down or he won't. Give him Crameri's spot this week and play him deep forward.

8) SAY THAT IT WAS UNACCEPTABLE. I want to see remorse, not just lip service. An acknowledgement that they belived they would walk all over Melbourne.

Like this post and agree with most of it, except maybe Reimers. Give Gumby one more match, and bring him in after the BYE perhaps...

What a wonderfully wet Monday, Melbourne has had, hopefully Hirdy has had them out there in it for at least two to three hours they might learn that when wet they need to attack the ball and at every opportunity just move it forward, if that means kicking off the ground or just pushing it then so be it.

Our inability to play basic wet weather footy needs addressing but then again these guys have been playing this winter sport for at least ten years before being recruited.

Intereresting article by Mark Stevens looking at DE.

Before the game

EFC was +6.8% DE
MFC was -3.6% DE

At the end of the game

MFC was +10 DE

Enough said.
