Good times.
I was pretty keen to keep Medhurst and it really showed how much we missed Grandson when he was out with stress fractures. Even though monkey is still pretty much up and down, he is the type of player we need if farmer is to play further up the ground. Hopefully he can lose some weight before next season, obviously bulking him up to try and make him a key forward hasn't worked, they should get him back to his 2003 - 2004 condition.

I guess you have to start wondering who we could offer up in the trade period. Other than polak, we don't really have much to offer up. Seeing as our we have some major deficits in key defensive positions, I couldn't really see us trading Polak unless we are doing it to avoid a rift forming in the playing group. I really hope we keep hold of him though.... I can see him becoming an AA backman in 2-3 years time, which would really come back to bite us on the arse!

Players with trade value who are probably still on the table despite contracts:

Polak (if we get Hay, in fact even if we don't he may be traded)
Dunn
Gilmore

Personally i'd prefer to keep our list pretty much as it is. If we somehow lose Dunn for Hay and Polak for pick 7 or earlier we are probably heading in the right direction.

Definately think we should draft Swallow and one of the tall east freo boys. Any of the 3 would be excellent. Clark is a young Justin Longmuir who is probably more capable as a forward. Kennedy could step into AFL next year no probs. And Ryder is just a freak. Would love him down at the club.

Its good news. I for one am glad Monkey will be staying, could stand to see him in the teal. I dont think we will play a big part in trade week now. If anything, id like to trade one of our late picks up higher into the mid teens. I think we can solve a lot of our problems in the draft... although maybe not immediately.

Maybe Swallow with our first pick. Than if we can have a couple of picks in the late teens, we could get a mixture of players. Maybe Travis Varcoe who is quite quick and one of these 3 guys... Paul Bower from Peel... 192cm Key defender with pace, Matt Spangher, 193cm CHB from Eastern Ranges and Austin Lucy, also 193cm and 91kg from Caloundra. Those guys are rated as as the best Key position Backmen in the draft and they all might fall down around the 20s.

Agree with all said. Pity that the 3 East Freo KPP will be gone by pick 10. Theres no way we'll get Swallow and one of those guys unless we trade for a below 10 pick.

Great news. I expect it will be a quite trade week, with Medhurst putting pen to paper

Happy with Walker signing on...

Medhurst - no comment.

Maybe we can trade Farmer then?

Fact is they both play better when the other one doesn't....

Glad we signed Monkey back up again.
From what I've read his stats are no worse than the average small forward. Considering he plays in the same team as The Wiz then I don't think he's really doing too bad. He has his problems but I'm sure they'll get sorted out.

Farmer is 29 years old next year, Medurst turns 24 this December and is still learning. The Wiz won't be around forever so one day we'll be looking to replace him another small forward. If we got rid of Medhurst we'd probably be trying to buy him back in a couple of years.

I remember Stephen Milne was being criticised by Saints fans similiar to what Medders has been copping recently. The Saints wouldn't dare get rid of him now!
