Collingwood use Eddie publicly for better or for worse and the overall results always seem to fall in their favor, so I don't mind at all what lethal and Swanny are doing.

I'm more impressed that a gossip columnist got his name right. That's better than many football writers and sub editors who caption our stories can manage with our stars.
Yeah normally it's an article mentioning Dayne Zorko with a photo of Lester or Redden

i-phone? Turn i-messages off.

Thanks Skoob, but I have solved the problem myself!.....so much for Telstra faults!

...my phone is what I call an old peoples phone, an Easycall model...big numbers etc, no internet or camera. Has got everything I need, don't need all that other whizzbang stuff you young ones are into.

..anyhoo checking my settings (which Telstra said they did) I wondered what it meant by "sms center number" so I googled it, and looking at the number realised I was missing the last two numbers, so added them and....BINGO! I can send txts again. Apparently it is a number all our txts are sent through..

Any problems peeps, just call good old MM:D

Swan on 3aw. Sounded very flat. Spoke about having sold out all the 100 corporate boxes being sold out and the disappointment of the effort served up last night. Issues in the backline without McStay, Harris, reserves having not won a game, so depth is an issue. Sounds like Beams could be out for a while, Rockliff has been to sport acad. in Act to try to sort out hammy problems. Spoke about having a goal of 50 per cent qld based players, to address the issue of paying over the odds for players to come to Qld and not loosing players.

Not being able to find one winner last night in the team, perhaps Zorko.

Felt his disappointment listening to him. Was wondering if I would go the Melb game given the crap we served up last night, but after listening to Swan want to go and support the boys. So let's hope for a better effort. Will be quite of bit of soul searching this week within the club I reckon.

We will all front up next week for more......if the Tigers supporters can do it so can we.

Like most, I'm flat as a tack today and desperately worried about my team and coach, but they are our other family, and you don't give up on families.

..might feel anger, disgust or whatever, but we keep coming back for more. You just do, thats how it is with families.

Actually, the tigers the previous week, drew 25,000 out of their 70.000 alleged members.

DANIEL Radcliffe — the British actor who played budding wizard Harry Potter in the box office smash movies — was at the Gabba on Saturday night.

He got on to the ground for the post-match kick-to-kick and probably conjured up more touches than Brisbane’s overpaid and overrated midfield.

The Lions on-ball division soaks up a substantial part of Brisbane’s salary cap but they again failed to deliver.

Collingwood dominated contested possessions (152-115), inside 50 entries (70-38), clearances (48-24) and centre clearances (20-9) as the Lions midfield was reduced to glorified spectators.

In another telling stat, Brisbane’s leading contested ball winner was 19-year-old Ben Keays, who was playing as a permanent forward in his third game at AFL level.

It was complete and utter garbage from the home side. The first quarter was so bad it was laughable.

Don't always agree with Hammo but think what he has written is fair enough in the light of what we witnessed on Sat night. He is obviously sick of reporting on floggings as well. I think as a club we do tend to get excited about a win or close loss due to the fact we rarely have such results.

I read that Rich came back early for pre season training and did a triathlon on the off season and it all sounded great. He signed a new contract at seasons start and seems to have gone straight back into pedestrian mode.

Taylor and Green are holding out on new contracts well their efforts sat night wouldn't have raised their terms. They owe the club not the other way around.

I'm glad they're getting a clip by the media up here. Greg Davis also wrote one which hits the mark as well. They'll be a few more as the weekly programs start as well.

Andrew Hamilton's article offered very little in the way of analysis of where our list is. To just dismiss where they are as 'lazy spoonfed brats' is in itself lazy journalism. His solution of docking players their pay was just laughable. I want to read a more thoughtful measured analysis from a supposed expert. It looked as if he knocked up that article in about twenty minutes.

I didn't learn much more from Greg Davis' article either. Why didn't Davis take the opportunity to go through each of the Lions' midfielders and offer his 'expert analysis' of where they are under-performing? To merely state they are under-performing is stating the bleeding obvious. Tell me where he thinks Bell, Rich, Bastinac, Robinson, Hanley, Zorko, Beams and Rockliff are and the areas they need to improve. Give me some thoughts on the state of our backline and our forward line.

No one would read an article like that.

95 percent of Courier Mail sport readers want to read analysis about the Broncos and then have a quick chuckle at the ongoing plight of the Lions.

Ultimately Rich is gravy. He's great, but you still need the meat to go with it. I'm pretty sure the club knows it, other clubs know it and he knows it. It's only us supporters that still hold out hope that he turns into the meat as well, but on nights like Saturday night where no one shows up Rich is not going to carry us.

That may be so, but both articles were published in the Melbourne Herald Sun also. Frankly I expect better from the so-called 'experts'.

I agree with a lot of what you said here but also think at least he had the balls to finally say the players have been getting away with mediocrity for far too long now. My biggest gripe with the media is the Lions rarely get any coverage here in Melbourne and the two Queensland journos seem more intent on being pals with Leppa and not writing the hard stories. Davis more than Hamilton.

But Roylion you are spot on that their is never any in depth analysis of the Lions list. Even more so about their game plan/ structure? I remember when Leppitsch first took over as coach they wrote an article describing what changes he was implementing and that included a game style that would concentrate on playing down the wings and then switching quickly. Well they got first part right - i haven't seen much switching of the ball. Wouldn't you be asking Leppa in the press conferences what has happened to the game plan or is it sustainable?

Caroline Wilson wrote some very good articles on the Lions just recently but it concentrated more on the club and the happenings on and off the field which is more her strength. Rohan Connolly wrote some articles on the Lions last season after spending time at our pre season camp. But don't get me started on the Herald Sun. Robbo will get stuck into now because we are now are hot topic. But the rest of those lazy journos there have all got their own agendas reporting on their fave clubs. Landsberger, Ralph and Clark are terrible. Here's a tip boys if you want to be recognised as creditable journos write a report on the Lions list or game structure/plan. Write about why Port were so good when Hinkley first took over but now struggle to beat anyone. Instead they just write about Collingwood and Richmond every week and send out the same diatribe that we read last week.

Agreed, our midfield which are meant to be "experts" in their chosen field were absolutely pathetic on Saturday night and they were definitely under performing in every category you want to look at.

I don't mind Davis or Hamilton saying exactly that, but I also want some specific details on that mediocrity both in the Collingwood game and previously.

For example is Bell working hard enough in the clinches to win the contested ball? Is he failing to get his hands on the ball or is his disposal letting him down? Is Bastinac playing an inside midfielder's role or is he being played as an outside midfielder which by all reports is not his strength. Is Rich or Hanley better suited to a half back flank role rather than in the midfield? Did Robinson have an off game against Collingwood? Was the Lions' contested ball wins down from previous weeks? Does Keays need to be moved into the midfield? What was Beams' impact before his injury flared? How did the forward line function, if the midfield did manage to get it into the inside fifty? What impact did McStay's late withdrawal have on the defence? Were Collingwood's players just quicker than Brisbane's or did they show more grunt and presence of mind in the clinches? Is Leppitsch's game plan not working because of a lack of skill or lack of desire?

All we really got was 'lazy spoiled brats'.

Agree with all that. Sadly i don't think many so called football journos have the nous or ability to write such pieces. I mean Davis and Hamilton would be the only two who watch the Lions games. The Melbourne lot wouldn't have watched a single Lions game this year.

I think the AFL reporters do a much better job and write better more analytic pieces. Peter Ryan is quite good. Michael Whiting who follows the two Qld sides isn't bad but also tends to go to soft in press conferences and not ask the hard questions often enough.

They were. But I don't need football media experts Andrew 'Sherlock' Hamilton and Greg 'Watson' Davis to re-iterate the bleeding obvious without a bit more forensic analysis from them.
