This club often cops a bagging from opposition supporters. Certain stereotypes have long existed, we have been the subject of ridicule, at times it has seemed unfashionable to be a Demon supporter. Well f**k that I say, lets show some pride in this great club, starting right here. List all the things that make you proud about the Melbourne Football Club, whether it be old or new, well-known or obscure.

1. We are the oldest football club in Australia, and one of the oldest in the world. No one has a history as long and proud as us. :thumbsu:

2. We play at the greatest stadium in the entire world, and have called it home for over 100 years. Who else can claim to have a home as majestical as us for as long as we have? No one.

Have recruited players from untested and untried areas (ireland, yuendemu etc), and a number of ex-players that, althought they may dabble with other clubs, are rusted on MFC boys who look out for the best interest of the club at all times.

I think "Melbourne Pride" is already an organisation..

P.S - Who gives a shit what the other peasants think? Too much time is wasted on the opinions of others.

Agree - they will put the boot in whether we are up top or down bottom so who cares what they say. But I will add:

6-1 in GF's vs @#$%wood

Bwahahahahaha!

Jim Stynes- inspirational leader and person.

'There was no running, no hiding from the mistake I had made against Hawthorn. I could not blame it on this or that. I could not blame it on the umpire, or on my teammates, or that the siren was not loud enough. It was _my_ fault, _my_ mistake. And I had to take responsibility for it. So many things flashed through my mind, but the inescapable message was that there must be a reason why this had happened to me. I knew there was no such thing as coincidence and that everything happens for a reason. I just had to figure out - why?'

then

'Why did I [succeed in getting a Brownlow medal]? It all came down to my running across the mark in the 1987 Preliminary Final against Hawthorn. If I had not given Gary Buckenara that 15-metre penalty my attitude would not have been what it was in subsequent seasons. I would not have made the most of a rare opportunity to play Australian football at the highest level'

Awesome book must read. (second only to 'Red Fox' in terms of Demons books:thumbsu:)

Oh and second reason is Liam Jurrah. Nuff said!

Had arguably the greatest coach of all time in Norm Smith.

He and Ron Barassi are the only two people in VFL/AFL history to win 10 premierships as a player and coach. Smith won four as a player and six as a coach, all at Melbourne. Barassi won six as a player, and four as a coach (at other clubs).

Both are true Melbourne men, legends of the game, and statistically the most successful football men in the history of our game. :thumbsu:

Also, our name is arguably the best in the league. Melbourne is arguably the sporting capital of the world, a city with great history and appeal, while Demons is strong and fierce.

A proud, significant and successuful history dating back further than any other club in the country.

Being the club that gave the opportunity to some of the greatest names in football to ever to grace the MCG.

The way we have been binded and overcome adversity in the midst of tragic circumstances with Troy Broadbridge.

I'd say Jimmy and his board have achieved more in one year at MFC than most other clubs have managed in several years or more...

only club to have won 2 hat-tricks of senior flags
30, 40, 41, and 55, 56, 57, but we all knew that!!

The AFL telling you your brand was meaningless was an act of corporate buffoonery. You are older than the Ashes and a national sporting treasure.
