What an intriguing game. The loser will almost certainly miss top 4, with finals also a challenge.
The winner can kick start their season.

Based on the health of the lists, I have a feeling Essendon will end Melbourne’s premiership dream by a few goals.
The Dees appear to be still struggling after the Prelim hiding in particular the mids.

Where does everyone see this game going?

Melbourne easily for mine. Their midfield is not going that badly, should crush the bombers through there no problems.

And as if everyone is not going to tune in for the car crash.
Their average loosing margin for their past 3 games is like 50 points.

No idea who will win but based on the last two weeks this could well be one of the most unwatchable games in recent memory. Atleast with the Dees I can see something resembling an attempted game plan so I think they’ll get up. Essendon just look like a disorganised rabble bereft of all confidence.

Should be an easy Melbourne victory. Our issues run way deeper than Melbourne's. Melbourne are lacking in execution. Essendon are lacking in direction.

Melbourne should win. They have a big advantage in contested ball winning and that should translate into control of the game. Essendon doesn't have the defensive pressure to repel regular attacks so if Melbourne win the inside 50 count decisively I'd expect them to win easily (as opposed to what happened with Geelong).

If we play in the same manner of the past 2 weeks Melbourne will win by more than 6 goals. None of our minimal number of goals this year have come from any form of system. It’s all been extremely hard going, error-riddled, and uninspired (Stringer with a couple of inspiring moments perhaps). Never seen an Essendon side so underwhelming relative to expectation.

My only hope is that things click naturally and we chalk down the last two weeks to an out of form playing group with their heads up their rears.

Not much to love about us this season. Losing Hogan has killed our transition game, and no vandenBerg and Hannan has meant three of our best forward line last year is gone. The latter two aren't guns, but we don't have their guts/pace respectively anywhere else.

Our backline was built on Jetta and Hibberd the last two years, and both look slow as shit this year. May is nothing to rave about, and the Suns seem to be going better without him and his bad body language. He's also injured now. Frost and O.McDonald is a reasonable combination when they're in form, and right now they're both well out of touch.

Viney, Jones, Harmes, Oliver, Brayshaw looks like a one paced midfield. Gawn's ruckwork is still great, but the lack of repeat stoppages is hurting our inside game.

We have two genuinely elite inside midfielders in Brayshaw and especially Oliver, but things aren't looking great apart from them.

It's gonna be compelling viewing, no doubt about it - sure, the footy mightn't be of the highest quality, but the repercussions for the loser will be huge.

Can't wait tbh.
