The highlights of this game for me will be:

Seeing Phil Read play against his old team. I would say he will pick up either Cousins or Fletcher.

Seeing how Lynch does on Neitz (hopefully they match them up).

Seeing how Cox/Seaby duo perform interstate.

Can our defence produce a same quality effort once again.

After all the good reports I'm really looking forward to seeing Staker play. Hopefully he is over his injuries.

An early interstate win will do no harm to guys. We did ok over there early last year, but we really started to fizzle out towards the end again. I just feel the players need this interstate win for there own confidence (and for ours, the supporters, too )

Firstly Confidence is important.
Secondly I don't believe thats why we fell off during the end of last season.
We picked up a few crucial injuries and did'nt have the depth to cover it.
We have a young side and by the midpoint of the season their young bodies having been smashed all year couldn't take thewm to the next level.
This year those younger bodies in Judd, Kerr, etc look much stronger.

Will be interesting to see Ready play and I don't think Cousins will be his target as the onballers will be well and truly rotated and with a much larger group than usual.

Yes, I too will be interested to see Read playing against his old team. IMO he has a lot of trouble keeping his aggression in check, often resulting in stupid free kicks at critical points of the game. When he can concentrate on the footy and less on the man I think he is a pretty good player, although I noticed last year his kicking seemed to let him down at times.
I guess he will be pumped up to do well. Can he play a good game without losing his cool?

it would be nice to get an early season interstate win on the board for the fellas to know they can achieve such wins as has been said, and i think in this particular case we can achieve that.

i look forward to seeing the likes of McDougall, Lynch, Johnson and now Staker running around very impressively just like last weekend, it was a joy to watch no matter how depleted or serious collingwood were going into the game.

I for one would love to see us win this thing, and we seem to have the better half of the draw with Essendon and Brissy facing off in the other half. Winner of our game gets Geelong or Carlton in the semis. If we really want it we have a good chance of making the final.

On the injury front i read this from the Melbourne home page:

You guys were great at the WACA & are huge favourites for this game, we're a real chance @ The Dome though. We rarely lose there. Neeta will be Goal hungry after drawing a blank against North.

Oi at least give me some credit!

No seriously we're really looking forward to this game. It's a real chance to see how we're travelling. Your fadeout last season didn't wipe your good start from our minds. Like I said to the North fans, we're definitley taking this comp seriously. Both clubs have picked strong squads, it'll be tough for us if you're at your best.

We're quietly confident at home, I'm looking forward to Phil Read's Demon debut.
