Metal will live on......

🥰 Love BigFooty? Join now for free.

Just thought I would say.....

To all the nu-metal fans making the ****ty nu-metal bands famous....**** YOU!!

If u want to take a look at Pantera, Slayer, COC, Sepultura, Fear Factory and others, u will see that it does not take some ****ty gimmick to get over, or even all the airplay and sucking ass to fans

Heck, Pantera NEVER got any airplay, yet are still bigger than Slipknot, Limp and God Damn Korn.

Old School Metal will live on forever. I saw Pantera in May, and By God, I will stand with them in the belief that all nu-metal SUCKS ASS!!

Thankya,

CFH.

Umm, whilst I kinda agree with some of what you say, if you beleive FF & Sepultura aren't nu-metal NOW, they've sucked you in too...

I believe they both use *****y gimmicks too if I'm not mistaken!

You aint a bad motherf**ker....your just a clown!!
Fear Factory are just as commercial as Korn or Slipknot. Ditto Sepultura. Have you heard Fear Factorys new album?? If that aint getting more commercialised i dunno what is. In fact Fear Factory stated themselves that if that cd doesnt go Platinum then they will break up!! Doing it for the fans are they??

I also find it quite hilarious that you rate Sepultura as one of the 'non gimmicky nu metal bands'...yet they helped CREATE that Genre with their Roots album.

It has been around since the late 60s, so I can't see it dying anytime soon.

I prefer ye-olde metal, but if nu-metal is keeping the kids away from west coast hip-hop and (worse still) Creed/Matchbox20 type bands, then that's a good thing.

Metal - whether it be new-old whatever wont die...i prefer both styles of metal.

pffffffffffft it's all good. There's good and bad in every genre, and I'm standing by that ;-)

Some of the Nu-Metal stuff ain't bad. has a nice groove and energy. It's only when all the new bands start coming out sounding exactly the same when it gets annoying.

While I think you have a point, preferably with FF's new stuff, for some reason I don't agree with Sepultura. Especially the Roots album. Incorporating what they do into their music and in they way Max sang (grunted, whatever) I don't believe they are commercial at all. Granted, Nation is. SINCE Max has left they have dropped off totally, but not gone too commerical IMO.

And yeah, okay, FF are commercial now. I'm just glad I never said Metallica or Soulfly! :D ;)

Mudvayne

And by the way, I see ur a Mudvayne Maniac. Having a go at FF and Sepultura is a little hypocritical, seeing as Mudvayne are pretty much a Slipknot clone.

They may not wear masks, but they need a gimmick to get over. Period. But, no dis-respect to ya.

I HATE when people call Mudvayne a Slipknot clone. They sound nothing a like...nothing at all. They have completly different sounding songs....Slipknot play much faster...Mudvayne have more elements to the band (slower, actual singing). I honestly cant see how Slipknot and Mudvayne sound a like.

Mudvayne formed in 1996, and their debut record 'Kill, I Oughta' is in the same style as their major label debut 'L.D. 50'. They are also from Illinois.
Slipknot formed in mid 95, and their debut was very old school metal...a lot slower than the current Slipknot, plus only had 5 band members, instaed of 9.
Slipknot changed their style and also half of IOWA joined the band.
Slipknot are fairly one dimensional psychopathic speed metal with not much variety...fairly easy riffs and Corey hardly uses what is a bloody good singing voice - instead he just screams (i have no problem witht hat)
Mudvayne uses the Bass as much as the guitar - the guitar isnt the major instrument...Kud sings in most songs, they are a lot slower than slipknot and have much more elements to the band.

So please - seeing as Mudvayne have sounded like they do since 1996...and Slipknot was an old school metal band till about 1998 (when they changed the band around and style) how is Mudvayne a Slipknot clone??? Cos i dont buy that.

And i never had a go at FF or Seps. Fear Factory is one of my all time favourite bands - top 5 favourite band easy....i LOVE their stuff.
Sepultura...all i said was that the Roots album (along with Korns self titled) basically created the genre of "nu-metal". I love Seps as well...and Soulfly....i dont particularly like Nation much at all...i wouldnt say its commerical...its just a piece of crap.

IMHO Pantera was one of the first gimmick bands. Songs full of swearing (songs being "angry" does not defend it), flaunting their drug use openly in media articles and official release videos, and putting dope motifs on merchandise.

It takes away from the fact they are quite a talented band, especially Vinnie (drums) and Darrell (guitar).

Especially when you consider MOST 'nu-metal' bands have basically ripped off what Pantera started - 'groovy' riffs, 'screaming angry' vocalist etc.

Unfortunately Pantera & Korn are responsible for a lot of the drivel passing itself as 'heavy' music at the moment.

Don't get me wrong, I loved CFH/Vulgar (Pantera) & the first couple of Korn albums (their debut IS a classic, regardless of what it spawned).

It's funny to think that they were both basically glam bands before finding 'their style too! LOL!;)

PS. If you haven't seen the incriminating evidence, please have a laugh at the following links brough to you by one of the funniest sites on the net: Metal-Sludge.com
KORN = http://www.metal-sludge.com/ExposedKorn.htm

PANTERA = http://www.metal-sludge.com/ExposedPantera.htm

(I hope these links don't shatter too many illusions! hahahahaha!)

Jon Davis was in a band called Sexart which also had 2 of the guys from Orgy in it....also not a bad band.

And with Jon Davis looking like that in those pictures, no wonder he got beaten up at school!!

Yup....the hair - the biggest hair ever!!!
What a shocker

actually i have a vid of an interview with them and MTV and most of those pictures actually came out in that interview - they even cracked up at them themselves!!

Funny stuff huh!

That site has had some of the funniest things I've ever seen on a website.
A lot of it covers 'rock/glam' type stuff, but they just bag the absolute crap outta them, so it's hilarious. Occasionally they cover 'heavier' bands too.

I guess growing up having to buy more mainstream' rock mags (to try and find mentions of the more 'underground' stuff) meant I was familiar with some of the bands they dig at, but even if you aren't it's still cool.

Some of the interviews/commentaries they do have literally had me on the floor in stitches!

Good stuff!;)

Be very careful here Hitters. Slayer are the reason that a lot of newer metal bands exist. They were pioneers and were hardcore before most of todays sissies even heard the word.
LIsten to 'Reign in Blood' one day and hear the truth.

"Them's fightin' words oh hittingest one!"
;)

As Santos says, listen to R.I.B (if you haven't heard it), and remember that this album was written/released in 1986, and STILL is a lot heavier than most of the stuff others have released since!

I will get you started...
"Auschwitz, the meaning of pain..."

Now go learn the words to the rest of the album!

I never hold back... ;)

I like Slayer, don't get me wrong. I know the impact they have had on modern metal. I just don't think that much of them as MCChawk, thats all.

Like I said, I think they are overrated, but that's just an opinion.
