How do you know, if they keep producing albums of the quality that they have their will be no choice but to induct them.

Metallica were a great band , but right now, they are crap, right now Muse is so much better then them, anybody who thinks otherwise is an idiot.

Firstly, they both can ROCK the facuck out!!
Secondly, both are awesome live bands.
For me though it's got to be Metallica. Muse just don't have the following or the cred that makes people think of them when talking about rock music.

Kidding hehe. Metallica are way better, 90 million records and countless hits speak for itself.

There's no doubt St Anger sucked balls - but that doesn't mean that their legacy is overly tarnished. They still put out a run of albums that is unmatched by anyone in the metal world and their place in history is guaranteed because of this. They could put out 20 more St Anger-like albums from now on and it won't disguise the fact that Metallica in the 80s and erly 90s entered a league that only admits the very greats.

Muse are nowhere near that level. Not now, not before and unless some radical reinvention takes place, they won't be.

Not that their a bad band - far from it, but what they're doing isn't really groundbreaking is it?

Debatable.

Iron Maiden had an lengthy run of great metal albums, Black Sabbath had a great run (up until Technical Ecstacy, they were brilliant) as did Judas Priest, Motorhead, Slayer, Megadeth, Sepultura to name a few all with albums that could match Metallica's run of great albums. Then there are bands like Soilwork, Opeth, Dream Theater, Emperor, Dark Tranqulity etc...

As far as Metallica is concerned, Kill 'em all is Good, Ride the Lightning and Master of Puppets are both Brilliant (RTL being one of my all time favourites) and And Justice for all is Good. Anything post there is Bob Rock territory and hardly worth mentioning at all... (Black album has it's moments, but it is not a great metal album)

No doubt that Metallica deserve to be inducted in the hall of fame, I just don't like this supposition that their first four albums made them the unmatched Gods of metal or that their run of albums was or is unmatchable.

Especially, when we all know who are the rightful Gods of metal are...

Metallica at there best easily better than muse, and i am saying this as a muse fan BTW
 
Plenty of metal fans on this board but plenty of Muse fans also, interesting poll.

I don't listen to Metallica apart from a handful of their big songs (Whiskey in the Jar, Fuel, Enter Sandman, Whom the Bell Tolls, Fade to Black among others) so can't really judge. But I'm a fan of Muse so them it is - I'm sure many voters for Muse would have heard even less than I have of Metallica...;)

I must say people i owe the muse fans out there an apology i still think metallica kick their arses but saw a live show the other day on foxtel they are pretty good :thumbsu::thumbsu:
