Troubadour
Cancelled
I've been following this particular story about a band called Kombo Kolombia who played a gig and were than kidnapped, tortured and their bodies dumped in a well. They are not thought to be linked to drugs as they played a popular style of Colombian music rather than narcocorrido which is dedicated to glamourising the activities of drug lords, but singing the wrong song to the wrong audience can get you killed.
The LA Times tends to focus on the Mexican Drug Wars a little and has some fascinating articles.

The number of Mexican murders (usually related to drug crime) are astonishing.
Ciudad Juarez is across the border from El Paso Texas with a population of 1.3 million, roughly the size of Adelaide. In 2009 it had the highest homicide rate in the world at 130 per 100,000. That's 1,690 muders for the year!
