All beer and skittles around here.

I think there is a lot to like, but lets not get carried away. So we play some weaker teams and rotate players through. The moment a midfield depletes in any team is the moment we point at forwards and defenders.

Great they are playing these guys, but don't get carried away...yet. Let the bloke go through a few ups and downs.

Given the Hawks had only a narrow win and are only two percentage points in front of us right now, we could conceivably be second on the ladder come Monday, assuming Port don't completely trounce Richmond.

If ever we need to get our forward line as potent as possible, it's now. Best of luck to our source of future Appiness, hope Ballaz, Mayne and Pav play blinders, hope Col and Morra get their groove on, and - Sonny please get better soon!

I went ahead and did the math. basically a 50pt win moves us ahead of port and the hawks.

aside from not converting his set shot for a goal, the iPhone app achieved this on the weekend. With Pav in and drawing the key defender and 3rd man the iPhone app has a real chance to some serious damage this week, particularly against a weaker defense and what I'd expect to be some platinum service from our mids.

It was mentioned elsewhere but I'm very interested to see how long the boss keeps him in the team for. Is it too late in the season to make significant change to our lineup? I think not, especially in the fwd half where we should always be tinkering. Effectively Mayne can play as the marking mid size fwd that he is. Clarke against a 3rd def, it all sounds very appealing.
Play mayne as the defensive forward instead of de boer and let the other three talls take care of the marking.

He'll be a more dangerous defensive forward than mdb. It's a good fit. Been saying it for a little while now.

My way of giving nicknames (not the only one who does it) is to derive & then derive from the derivative etc.

I was really impressed with Apeness' attack on the ball, even though he didnt get a lot of touches. Its all you can ask for. Tabener on the other hand gives me the sh#ts as he is appears very timid in his desire to get the pill.

I want him to play on Goodes with Eddie commentating.
One day Goodes and Apeness will be in the same area and an enthusiastic supporter is going to yell out "Go you big ape!" and all hell will break loose.

Probably... I did notice at the start of the game last week one of the commentators pronounced it 'Ape'-ness instead of Apen-ess.

They all have a terrible time with names when it should be something professional commentators would have nailed from the start of the season.

Freo's website now says its pronounced app-ness, so no more ape references I guess.
Should cal him iPhone. They're known for their app-ness.

He isn't anywhere near full AFL fitness but that's unsurprising. But I like him a lot. He isn't able to inject himself all game, but when he can I like it – he has some serious poise and confidence and seems to fit out there, not just mentally either considering how big he is. I like the way he runs, I like the way he lays tackles, and I like how smart he is as a footballer... that mark he took 60 out, he saw Suban or Pearce or whoever and quickly handed it off realising they were on the run. Also liked how at the other end, he took a solid mark and quickly looked up and quickly decided the simple option: top of the square to the Pav and Sandi height.

I really like him.

Still very raw as you would expect, but I would have liked to see him play more in front of his opponent. He seemed to get caught behind or back lead a little too often today - he will learn no doubt.
