It'll be Hawthorn, they'll use him as insurance until JOM is ready to go. Not sure he's enough to tip anyone over the edge though, is he from Victoria originally ??
How can he get to Hawthorn?

And if it's good enough for Hawthorn it's definitely good enough for us
o_O Not sure I follow? Could be that you took too long to respond and now I don't remember what I was commenting on... or, your response isn't related??

If we actually have the salary space available for Gibbs, I wish wed use it to end some contracts early. If we did that I could handle having Barlow on the list.

Open up a few list spots and get rid of a few spuds early?
Who were you thinking ;)

Looking at your posting history your obviously in the know re Michael.....so he's not keen on the Gold Coast, so how's he feel with regard to suiting up for Adelaide or does he want to head home to Victoria as a preference??

To be honest I have no idea - however I would just like to see him play again :) :footy: :thumbsu:

Barlow dinks short kicks obviously. That's one of the criticisms he can't kick the ball for crap so he chips in short. Lousy disposal

Gibbs is so much quicker it's not worth discussing

Barlow 2016 k:h was 10:14 and Gibbs 14:12. Gibbs averaged 393m to 256m. Assuming the nett effect of handballs is zero, given they're mostly lateral, backwards or just forwards and adjusting for kick qty difference, Barlow would end up at 366m if extended out to Gibbs' 14.6 kicks. Statistically, there is nothing suggesting that there's a vast difference between the way the 2 players go about their kicking. Obviously I'm not commenting qualitatively.

UNRESTRICTED FREE AGENTS

Primary List

Players delisted by a club are unrestricted free agents but a player who retires or delists himself is not eligible to be a free agent.

Players who are not in the top 25 per cent of salaries at their club (that is, in the club’s top nine-10 paid players) are eligible for unrestricted free agency if they have served at least eight years with the club.

I thought if he doesn't get picked up during the trade he still needs to nominate for one of the drafts and a club must use a pick?

There are three periods where delisted players can sign with any club.
1-8 November
2-18 November
26-27 November

Technically it does sort of cost you a draft pick, as you only take as many picks to the draft as you only take as many picks to the draft as you have list vacancies, but it'll just be your last pick that disappears.

Not all clubs just pick their best 22 to win the points that weekend. Some clubs, not ours, accept that they're not in contention and will blood a few players throughout the year at the expense of known quantities, even though the side may drop off a bit because of it.
Except they had injuries to good players, particularly midfield and he's the only one they dropped. He's slow with average disposal, pretty much the model Adelaide mid for the last 10 years. If forgive one of those weaknesses but not both, it's just more of the same.

We've delisted Lowden with VB and MJ retiring. We've only got 4 picks in the draft and one of them will be used on ROB. I reckon we will see 2/3 more from the main list go, suspect Sam Shaw will have to retire but the others who knows.

Edit- Grigg and Hendo to go with Lyons traded. Thats 6 spots, 5 if we upgrade ROB. Maybe 1 more rookie upgrade or perhaps room for Barlow.
That's what I am hoping.

At the moment we have four main list spots available VB, MJ, Lyons and Lowden.

I'd love to move on Hendo and either Shaw or Grigg and then sign Barlow, select two players at the draft plus Ben Jarman as father son and then upgrade ROB and Hugh Greenwood.

Sorry to intrude, but Barlow would be a massive get for your mob, the only reason he was delisted by the Dockers was due to our surplus of inside midfielders who are all notably younger. If we were contending for a premiership, it's a sure thing that we would've kept Barlow on our list.

He got dropped Round 8 because he was being played out of position (half forward), and in response to being dropped to the WAFL he gathered 39 disposals and took 12 marks in his first game for Peel, then the next week later gathered 44 disposals and kicked 3 goals in a game winning performance. He also performs exceptionally well against Port Adelaide, with the last time we played them he gathered 43 disposals, made 8 tackles, kicked 2 match winning goals while keeping Gray to 18 disposals and 0 goals.

If it's only costing coin and a list spot, then you'd be mad to pass up a player like Barlow, especially when your teams weakness is midfield depth.

Good summary on MB. I've always liked him as a player. He accumulates a lot of possession.

You probably could have opened with "he plays well against Port" and 95% of people here would say sign him up LOL. Jokes aside thanks for the post, some nice info. I'd certainly be signing him as long as he doesn't cost too much as his body has been a bit sus.

I like him, but you also described us in your first sentence.

I don't think we have inside midfield depth anymore. 2 years ago we did when we had Danger, Thommo in good form, Lyons and Kerridge. But now we have Sloane and the Crouch brothers, and an untried CEY. I don't subscribe to the theory that we only need more midfield speed, we also need some grunt and possession winners
