I think Long came off the arc to put on a hit actually, because he did it again shortly after.
Should also be suspended for the “potential damage” he could have done there as well !.

It's a tactic used in footy a lot, it's setting the tone for the game. Sometimes it works, sometimes a player isn't taken out of the match, sometimes somebody gets suspendedShould also be suspended for the “potential damage” he could have done there as well !.
Ridiculous how they get to randomly use ‘potential’
A lot more players should’ve been rubbed out in the past if you want to go down that line.
He wasn’t injured as Long did his best to pull up quickly and because of that was not injured.
If he had no care he would’ve knocked him out.
Graded low impact, so how is Long different?
AFL got exactly what it wanted from the Tribunal. The ability to grade any hit any way they want.
Well played Gil and Hocking.
It's like the umpiring these days where the same incident can result in a different decision depending on how the umpire interprets it.
The AFL like having that ambiguity because it allows them to manipulate results whichever way they want.
Rough hand with Ryder and Carlisle for sure. But confident we’d beat them with them in anyway. Still gonna be a fun game to watchDidn't he try and line Libba up to?
I guess his suspension earlier in the season shows what a grub he really is.
St Kilda dealt with a tough hand here. No Long, Ryder and Carlisle
Why couldn't Long just put a tackle on? Takes more courage than to just wait for someone and try and pick him off with hit.
Long in or out is irrelevant to the result
If st Kilda is pinning their hopes on him being the saviour they’re kidding themselves
Those bringing up Cotchin in 2017 go watch the incident. He actually is going after and grabs the ball on Shiel. Long lined Macrae off the line and hit his head. It’s a week
The appeal failed and it’s happened. Move on
Long wouldn’t make a difference to winning or losing chief, He’s a battler. I’m just here to back cotch. The media and posters like you have no clue when it comes to that hit.You wouldn't be posting here if you didn't care about the Long verdict ...... so there is only one person kidding themselves
As for the Cotchin hit well the ball was in Shiel's hands and Captain Lovechild arrived late and lowered his back square into Shiel's head knocking him out of the game
But hey one rule for some and another rule for others
Explain this one then champ, go on.Long in or out is irrelevant to the result

Never defended Pickett chief
Move on
Cool game knuckles
Why don't the AFL just outlaw the bump?
Why did Macrae get to his feet immediately and play out the game?
Why didn't the MRO assess the incident as low impact when it was clearly low impact? (see above)
Why are the Media labelling Long a "Maniac"?
Why don't the MRO cite more cases where the "potential for injury" is very real?
Why didn't Heath Shaw get cited for his horrific slide into Butler's legs?
Why did Pickett only get a fine for his hit on Heeney?
Why are AFL Lovechildren protected from obvious suspensions?
Why is Michael Christian still in a job?
I'm just calling that incident as I saw it. It looked like a cheap shot because it was - and its not the first time for Long. He's a good player but he doesn't know how to use his aggression within the rules.
Long ran off the line and chose to bump instead of tackle, got Macrae high with the shoulder to the jaw. Seems pretty straightforward to me.
A couple of inches either way and Macrae gets split open, a fractured jaw, or concussion, and then Long is looking at 3-4 weeks.
As many have said he then tried it again later in the match.
Not begrudging the win in any way but if you play that way you've got to just cop it and move on.
To be fair Long pulled up he could have put Macrae into next week. He also braced and got low in an attempt to soften the impact. All in a split second. We would be furious if the shoe was on the other foot.
