Greatest Pop singer ever? Yeah we all know he;s an absolute nutcase, the guy is brilliant, love his music

Any other fans? He's touring again from july, yeah its to make sure he doesnt spend the rest of his days homeless, but good none the less.

"Any other fans?"

Yeah, think he might have a few lol. I love Wacko Jacko, his music is timeless and just brilliant. Is he really in need of cash though?

He's a very good pop singer and I like some of his early stuff from Off The Wall & Thriller but that's about it.

One of the greatest ever pop singers/artists without doubt.

A major reason why his epic (and i mean EPIC) world tours sold out in the 80's and 90's was because of his dancing ability. For his HIStory world tour his vocal chords were smashed for most of the tour, so he only did about 4 songs with live vocals throughout each show, and relied on his dancing to get him through. Going by his 2001 30th anniversary concert, you could see his dancing had slowed down a touch (wouldn't have been noticeable to newbie fans), so at 50, one would imagine he has lost some of the spring in his step, so he's going to have to rely on his vocals even more now. I'm not sure if he can sing like he used to, given he made an appearance in japan last year (?) and his voice was really croaky...

I hope his shows this year go great, because I wouldn't want his musical legacy tarnished by his last ever shows showing a marked dip in both dancing + singing ability...

To be honest, I'd rather him release a new studio album. I believe he's the only person left on earth capable of selling a diamond album (and yes no need to get into the sales don't equal credibility argument, i'm just saying, that's all)

Which is why he's probably responsible for the rather average state of music these days.

If we are talking about music, dancing means jack shit in the context of the discussion.

Half the films clips these days seem to be more about the dancing than the music which is rather sad that the MUSIC industry has become such a coreographed wankfest :thumbsd:

Freddie Mercury is probably the best pop singer that's gone around.

Why blame MJ for the choreography wankfest?

MJ wasn't just a good dancer, and you can't blame him for being a pioneer in that field, resulting in everyone else copying him without focusing on other aspects of music.

Blame the music fans who are too thick to appreciate other facets of what music artistry is all about.

Why not blame James Brown then?

Blaming MJ for that would be like blaming Freddie for people who like to do on-stage antics in live performances but are shit at doing everything else.

Ultimate alliance you're an idiot, this thread was intended for MJ as an artist. If you're gonna create an attacking post, at least make one regarding MJ as an artist like AndSmithMustScore, where you actually make a point on the subject and it can be discussed.

^Everyone knows he's a strange person, but we're talking about music in this thread.

You're coming across as an uneducated 12 year old, as evidenced by your post history.

I just think in the end the dancing was more important than the music itself.

Thriller, Bad , Beat It are great songs when you have the film clip to go with them.

Take that visual medium away and they aren't that special a songs imo.

I'd agree with Thriller and especially Bad which is dire but Beat It is a great song.

Prince once remarked that the album was called "Bad" because they couldn't fit "Pathetic" on the cover.

The Best Pop entertainer of all-time! His first 3 solo albums "off the Wall" "Thriller" and "Bad" were fantastic. But after that he went down hill pretty quickly and his last good song "Black or White" which was produced in 1991.

But he lost his appeal with all that plastic surgery and those allegations made him look like a freak!

If Michael never had those problems he would still be making great music and his music will be still played on the radio.

Also another thing I think has stoped Michael is that His music and Image never changed alot like Prince and the general public can easily get bored with seeing the same old things from artists. Michael was Huge from 1979-1991 and Prince was big from 1984-1993 but like I said after that people Just got bored of their Music.

But on the other hand Why has Madonna managed to stay on top of her game for over 26 years? She is Less talanted as a Singer, Dancer, Song writer then Michael Jackson and Prince. But the one thing she has done is re-invent her image and changed her style in music with each new album. also she is not scared to take risks and lucky for her most have paid off except for the 1992 era of her Erotica album and Sex Book.

But if Michael toured Australia I would see him for sure.

You have got to love some of his work, i'm more of a metal fan....... but classics such as "Beat it" and "rock with you" always keep me entertained.

I'm a metal head too, but MJ always seems to hit a chord with me, good stuff. If he didn't have his many "issues" he would be regarded as bigger than Elvis i reckon, he's not far off already IMO.

There was word last year that he was recording tracks for a new album, with Will-I-Am from Black Eyed Peas producing and was quoted as saying what they'd done so far was pretty amazing stuff. Kanye West and others were set to do some guest spots as well. I haven't heard a word about it since though, and no information seems to be around it now, so I don't know what's happening with it.

The performance he did at the Motown 25th Anniversary show of Billy Jean is simply one of the most mesmerising in popular music

every knows Michael Jackson went nutty, which was a shame really cause the guy had raw talent to lead the Jackson 5 from a young age was fantastic. And his early solo albums were sublime its a pity he went off the rails with all the issues in his personal life.but nothing can change that he was one of the best performers to walk the earth. And on a side note with the Michael Jackson threads there is alot of disrespect going on with who was better, who would get more coverage and other childish shit etc.so little respect

He was a fine singer and one of the greatest frontmen of all time. However, I was never really a big fan - some of his songs, like 'Beat It', are are good as any ever made (especially with that electric Van Halen solo), but many of his other songs were carried by his sublime sense of showmanship (I never really liked Thriller on its own, for instance - Bad was also enhanced a lot by the video)...and although he reached the heights of Elvis and Lennon as an icon, he wasn't nearly as musically talented as Lennon - although he was at least equal to Elvis (they both had similar strengths, but Jackson revolutionised the visual medium in a way that Elvis was - possibly due to time - simply unable to).

In terms of his actual music, I loved his disco era. Love Billie Jean. Love Beat it. Loved Black and White when I was growing up, great video clip as well.

RIP to a ****ing LEGEND of music and pop culture.

An eternal icon that owned world music for a great deal of time.

As the years go by, I'm confident his music will remain strong and controversies not be at the forefront, just like those of past artists for their era that have now passed away.

We'll never see anyone like him again.

lol at the people saying 'look at me look at me im anti-mj so im cool!' in here hahahahaa fools

The bias toward rock on the forum is largely evident too (not that there's anything wrong with rock, but **** the blindfolds are really obvious).

Thats the Black or White video clip. Epic. And it was when music videos were probably at their peak and still entirely relevant to the music industry. I remember the day that was released there was a 10 minute special on Channel 9 hosted by Molly Meldrum showing it to Australia for the first time. I only remember that happening to one or two other songs.

^People fail to recognise the importance of Thriller and how that video changed the way music videos are made to this day, and will continue to be made forever.

In the olden days, you'd get the artist and/or band to lipsynch a performance with a plain and lame backdrop. That was it.

The evolution spawned by Thriller where videos were turned into stories and people realised you could actually utilise settings exemplified the very definition of 'trend-setter'.
