Ive been impressed by this young bloke in the 3-4 games that Ive seen him play, could certainly do with a young bloke like him down back at the lions

He gets some big names each week..

Is he still rookie listed or did he get promoted at the end of 07???

Still rookie listed but he can play all 22 games because we don't have anyone on our veterans list.

Has been a huge plus and a great pickup for us. He sticks to the basics and is very composed. Hope he continues to improve and becomes a solid FB for the navy blues.

Yeah Jammo is a gun, but Brisbane have Big Dan Merrett down there who is pretty good, so you wouldn't really need our young Michael.

Huge fan of Jammo, he has a lot of composure for a young kid. He constantly gives it to the oppo and when he's beaten to the ball he's generally just been slightly out of position or out muscled but reach-wise he'll certainly get a fist to it :thumbsu:

I think that the kids gonna grow into one of the best Full Backs in the league.
He does a great job.

Can't help but be extremely impressed with Jamo.

Has shown brilliant signs for a rookie and looks like he is capable of being our next long term full back.

Really knows how to stay on his man and keep a lid on him. Keeps up with them on the lead and has a great instinct to get a fist on the ball before his opponent has the opportunity to take a grab.

Pfft who wants a ranga when you can have JAMMO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ROFL! :D don't bag the rangas! they're cool.

In all honesty though Merrett is no slouch either - was very very solid down back for the lions and is still improving himself. Both hopefully will be long term servants of their current football clubs.

Seems to have good skills and handling below his knees.

A mate of mine saw him play a fair bit for Newlyn a few years back and was very impressed with him because of his skills for a big bloke, and he said he also used to love taking a hanger at every opportunity. Hope we see a bit of that in years to come

What position did he play for them?

Totally agree with all comments on Jammo, quickly becoming my favorite player, I love backmen that know how to spoil I think its his great closing speed, with Waite similarly spoiling beautifully. Love it, reminds me of Doulls ability to spoil and punch the ball clear of the oppositions waiting hands (tho they have a way to go before they get to level, that hope they get close).

p.s.
Special mention to Richard Hadlee as well, love his hard body in around the packs, very impressive, :thumbsu:.

Jamo has been brilliant. :thumbsu: I recall when he was drafted - I thought a fairly mature aged rookie defender out of the VFL would do nothing but fill numbers on the list.

How wrong I was - looks set to be our FB for years to come.

He's been a revelation. Watching him very closely in person for the fitrst time on sunday the boy just fills you with confidence. Reads it well and has superb balance. Plays like a hundred gamer and he's just notched 8!:thumbsu:

Jammo has been soild this year and even though Robbo took a few marks against him on the lead Jammo was right there within inches of making an effective spoil (some passes a back has no hope of spoiling). He looks a long term player and his role at FB has freed up Thornton to become a more attacking player.

I think Jammo was one of the players that the little slug Libba was referring to as not deserving a game. Thats why under Pagan we were going no where in a hurry as the likes of Jammo, Bower etc were not getting a game and developing as senior players.

Ten times the player that Livingstone and O'Reilly (eek!) were. Just does everything right from what I have seen. Looks like he could play a lot (more than 150) games.

Yep... I'd take Jammo over Voss any day :thumbsu:

And while we're on the topic, let's replace Betts with Ellard, at least the guy looks more like us. And who ever recruited that wog Silvagni. Sheez... what were they thinking

And to think there were those claiming he had no right to a game last year, and that he was getting killed by his opponents earlier this year (Richo).

Jammo is a kid who has played... what... 10 games? Given his inexperience and the obvious strength he's surrendering to opponents at AFL level, I think he is a gem. He is already an AFL quality defender, and that with some obvious rough edges to address and development to come.

I'm not going to make any silly suggestions after his 10 game career that he'll be Silvagni or Doull or whoever... but I think he should definitely be a solid for the Blues for years and years to come.

I hope he development continues, because he looks a really exciting prospect.

Trying to keep a lid on getting excited about this bloke.
He just keeps popping up and doing the job.
I hope he can keep doing it.
He seems to really understand what it takes to be a defender
in the modern game.

He's played 7 games.

He's a 10+ year full-back.

And yet it feels as if he's been around for years already. That's how much composure the kid exudes. It's so exciting to have been able to pick up someone of his quality.
