What other athlete has been top of their sport for 10+ years.
Fed was number 1 for 4? years without being beaten. Tiger has been for 10? years without being overtaken or close to it. Phelps has been number 1 in swimming for 4? years since Thorpe retired (Thorpe usually did challenge Phelps quite well).
Woods is an amazing golfer that we will probably never see in our lifetime again. Phelps however, will have all his record swims broken the next time there is a championship where Woods records will take a while to break.
The only record Phelps holds that will take a long time to break is his Olympic medals for swimming.
Woods the whole way for me as a better athlete and competitor.

People are severely underestimating how good Woods is. The dude wins nearly every major tournament he enters in fields of over 100. When he has an opponent closing in on him, it makes him even better. Also i bet there is a **** load more people trying to be professional golfers than there are people trying to be swimmers.

Just a question, how many pro golfers in the world opposed to pro swimmers? Golf is a hell of a lot more popular worldwide than swimming.
Phelps is very good (how many of his golds were relays? 3 or 4?), but he is absolutely nowhere near Tiger. If he wins 8 golds at each of the next 2 olympics, then I may reconsider.

phelps just has to peak for a 2 week period then not be under the pump for 4 years... golf/surfing you have to be a gun for a prolonged period of time... phelps doesn't even come close...

Swimming is only olympic sport anyone can get that amount of gold medals and its completely over rated........real sportsman swim for exercise and recovery........Tiger is the man!!!
