I loved the 91 flag when he completely smashed Turley who was the glamour boy of the time, who it was said had told him he was too old to keep up earlier that year

Had a non-Hawthorn mate who was reasonably well versed in the game declare that Tucky should have given the game away after 89 at the end of the 1990 season - I begged to differ and a bet was struck around Brownlow votes, of 3 in particular being deemed the pass mark. Tucky got 6.

As an aside, loved Turley as a footballer - remember being quite excited when he floated that he wanted to become a Hawk.

I can understand your passion all things Hawthorn, but record length of service does not nessarily equate to been a legend. We are talking about best of the best now, the absolute pinancle. He definately deserves to be in HOF, Hawks team of the century etc.

But in his time at the Hawks he was in the best half dozen players, but you could argue was never the best or 2nd best during his amazingly long, consistantly high output of service he gave.

Looking at only recent times in the AFL, there would be strong argument that Dunstall, Ablett, Lockett, Carey, Hird, Riccutto, Voss, Buckley all had careers with a greater impact in there time period. Brereton with under half the games he played compared to Tuck, also arguable a better player.

Tuck will have records that may conceivable last decades if not longer to come, or ever be beaten (most premierships, most GF, highest games/finals etc) I think personally he will never get that accolade.
