Been thinking a bit more about the mid year draft.
I think there's some potential upside for the state league clubs in that blokes who miss out on being drafted at the end of the year might stick around instead of chasing country/amateur league cash. It opens up another pathway for those chasing a spot on an AFL list.
What needs to happen though is a cash injection from the AFL. Clubs shouldn't have to live off the smell of an oily rag all the while the AFL are making mega dollars.
